Duties and Responsibilities The Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) is seeking a report writer to serve at the following meetings (based on online recordings or live online meeting):

¿ Range State Meeting on the Single Species Action Plan for the Hawksbill Turtle in South-East Asia and the Western Pacific (CMS/IOSEA/Hawksbill-SSAP, 31 May - 2 June 2022)

¿ Range State Meeting on the Single Species Action Plan for the Angelshark in the Mediterranean Sea (CMS/Angelshark- SSAP, 5-6 July 2022)

The report writer is needed to write the accurate summaries of these meetings. These reports shall be produced as soon as possible within the contract period and provided to the Secretariat for comments. Based on the comments received, these reports should be amended and submitted to the Secretariat for final approval.

Specific tasks and responsibilities

1) Service the meetings with the purpose of taking notes of the debates and decisions taken. The Secretariat will provide the Report Writer with copies of all the relevant documents, where they are available, including a past report as a style guide.

2) Produce a first draft of the report of the meeting using audio recording from the meeting provided by the Secretariat. The reports are expected to reflect the main elements of the discussions under each item of the Agenda, and include decisions taken. General reference as regards to the format of the reports and the level of detail required will be the reports of preceding relevant meetings. The report so prepared will be submitted to the Secretariat for review/comments as soon as possible.

3) The Secretariat will provide the Report Writer a second draft, including compiled comments and edits from the meeting participants, for further editing. The resulting version will be submitted to the Secretariat for final approval.

Qualifications/special skills Planning and organizing: Ability to plan own work, to prioritize multiple tasks within set deadlines; Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Academic Qualifications: Postgraduate degree/ diploma. Experience: Five years of experience in report writing in international environmental meetings is required. Language: Fluency in oral and written English is essential.

Additional Information - The remuneration will be in line with the UN fee and remuneration levels for consultants and individual contractors. - The successful candidate will neither hold civil servant status nor be a ‘staff member’ as defined in the UN Staff Rules and Regulations. - All applications will be treated in strict confidence.
