You have:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field.
  • In lieu of a Master's degree, a first-level degree with additional qualifying experience is required.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in communications, report writing and content writing is required.
  • Experience in producing engaging content on complex topics for diverse audiences is required.
  • Excellent command of written English, strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines is required.
  • Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position is located in the UN Office for Partnerships (UN Partnerships). Guided by the priorities of the UN Secretary-General, UN Partnerships is the gateway to the UN system to connect and co-create partnerships to deliver solutions to reach everyone, everywhere. In its role as a connector, UN Partnerships proactively engages, convenes and leverages stakeholders, initiatives and solutions in support of the Decade of Action to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). UN Partnerships oversees the UN Fund for International Partnerships (UNFIP), the UN Democracy Fund (UNDEF), and the SDG Advocates programme. The incumbent will predominantly support initiatives of UNOP and report to the Chief of Service and closely work with other team members. The contract is for 4-5 months, with a starting date in July 2025 onwards. Responsibilities include but not limited to: • Collaborating, drafting, and editing information materials and assets, including statements and remarks, media kits, web content, and articles for publication for the major events and campaigns of UN Partnerships • Providing strategic inputs to planning documents on communications, messaging, and branding related aspects in close coordination with the UN Partnership’s communications team. • Supporting the launch of new initiatives and campaigns of UN Partnerships by creating compelling stories, scripts, and content for the UN Partnerships’ web and social media platforms. • Supporting the production of campaign reports, promotional information materials, including videos, publications, and infographics in accordance with the UN Partnerships’ guidelines. • Develop articles, blog posts, feature stories, and opinion pieces highlighting key partnerships, events, and initiatives. • Draft, edit, and finalize reports on meetings, events, and convenings, ensuring accuracy and alignment with UN style and branding. • Prepare outreach materials, including fact sheets, talking points, and promotional content for digital and print dissemination. • Liaise with programme staff to gather content, data, and inputs for written materials. • Ensure all content is clear, engaging, and tailored to relevant audiences (e.g. Member States, partners, donors, civil society). • Support content development for events, campaigns, newsletters and website updates related to UN Partnerships. • Ensure adherence to UN editorial guidelines, tone, and terminology. • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications/special skills

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field. In lieu of a Mater's degree, a first-level degree with additional qualifying experience is required. Minimum 7 yrs experience in communications, report writing and content writing is required. Experience in producing engaging content on complex topics for diverse audiences is required Excellent command of written English, strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines is required.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
