How can you make a difference?

The Brand Section is looking to hire a Junior Brand Designer Intern for the period of 26 weeks to support the work of the section. The selected candidate will provide design support to section, with a focus on digital brand applications. This is a paid internship.

Specifically, the Junior Brand Designer Intern will support the team through:

  • Designing graphic materials to support campaigns, significant moments and events, and to reinforce our social media presence;

  • Designing core brand assets and internal templated visibility items, including letterhead, business cards, PowerPoint slides, Report Pages, Fact Sheets, campaign reviews and more;

  • Designing and commenting on the design of presentations, brochures, toolkits, and publications;
  • Brainstorming and contributing your design power to our signature yearly event – World Children’s Day;
  • Contributing to the roll-out of our 75th Anniversary;
  • Sourcing quality and suitable photos and videos from the UNICEF database;
  • Liaising and coordinating the printing production of certain publications and materials;
  • Designing logo and vector illustrations;
  • Assisting our lead brand designer in ad hoc projects; and
  • Supporting the Brand Help Desk through reviewing queries and providing guidance and suggestions.

The designer should be prepared to work virtually with the Brand Team (aligned with EST hours) for 35 hours per week for the period between 6/15/2021 and 12/15/2021 (exact start date may differ within a week or so after 15 June).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have....

  • Enrolled into a relevant academic program or obtained at least a first University Degree (Bachelor’s) within the past two years.

  • The presentation of a design portfolio.

  • A foundational knowledge of branding systems.
  • Have excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products, such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects.
  • Experience designing assets for digital campaigns.
  • Experience in illustration considered a plus.
  • Have a good working knowledge of PowerPoint and other Office platforms.
  • Have the ability to follow a brief and deliver products on time and within budget.
  • Be ready and willing to take direction well and work in a dynamic, collaborative, multi-cultural environment.
  • Have a general understanding of and interest in world affairs, current events and humanitarian issues.
  • Have experience in working with printing and production companies.
  • Have your own MAC laptop.

  • Experience in animation

Visa Requirements

We expect this role to be fully remote through the end of 2021.

Health Insurance

Interns, are required to certify that they are covered by medical/health insurance. UNICEF does not provide or arrange life or health insurance coverage for interns eligible to participate in the life or health insurance schemes available to United Nations staff members.

A competitive process will be followed to identity an Intern. This will include a portfolio review and an interview. A motivation letter telling us why you’d like to work with us will go a long way to helping us understand who you are and whether you’ll fit into our team and culture.

All internships are now paid at a stipend of $1700/month and Interns may take up to 2.5 days per month off work for any reason, including for medical reasons. The stipend will be reduced for any absence beyond this quota.
