Duties and Responsibilities UNRWA will be modernizing its Refugee Registration Information System (RRIS) to align with updated international standards for civil registration to ensure unhindered, secure, and protected access to UNRWA’s services. This entails the creation of an individual client-based registration system with an integrated online portal for secure access to and updating of registration records by clients that will constitute the master database for all UNRWA service provision and verification of service eligibility. The current system holds the active files of 5.7 million Palestine refugees and 0.7 million other service eligible persons. The system will re-organize existing registration files to link these with historic archival records and prepare the same for an online platform making available documentation for publicly accessible documentation on displacement of Palestine refugees from 1948 to date. The project will be guided by a team of civil registration and data protection experts and implementation of the new system design is foreseen through an external IT service provider. As part of the RRIS modernization project, UNRWA is seeking the services of the Registration Specialist who will be responsible for reorganizing individual registration records, verifying family trees, and linking documentation materials over the last 70 years.
With guidance from the Head of Refugee Registration and Eligibility Services, the incumbents will work on the following tasks:
- Overseeing Registration Assistants in retrieving, checking, and reorganizing RRIS individual registration records.
- Ensuring Registration Assistants are able to perform their tasks based on established guidelines and providing them with needed clarifications and support.
- Ensuring that any rectification of inaccurate registration information is supported by relevant documentation materials.
- Reviewing and approving RRIS transactions initiated by Registration Assistants to establish family trees.
- Ensuring that individual registration records are correctly linked to documentation materials pertaining to their family history.
- Producing weekly progress reports and promptly alerting the supervisor(s) of any setback; Plan, Implement and monitor registration activities to ensure that weakly goals are achieved.
- Coordinate registration activities with field offices to ensure standardization and consistency of data and its uses.
Performing other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).
Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications:
Degree in business or other related discipline.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Understanding of humanitarian and development contexts including prior programme or project management experience
- Understanding of civil registration systems and processes
Experience:
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience
Language:
- Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

Additional Information - The incumbent will be based in Beirut.
- Remuneration will be set at 1,187.60 USD per month (G11).
One and a half day annual leave per month.
