Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Regional Safety Coordinator for Asia-Europe.

About the job

The Regional Safety Specialist will have a regional focus and ensure professional management of all aspects of the DRC Safety Risk Management (SRM) system. The role contributes to the development of regional strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Provide safety technical support to the Country Safety colleagues in the AERO region
  • Provide support in the daily safety activities of the agreed duty station and, primarily European, country offices
  • Oversee the development and implementation of DRC’s Safety Risk Management System (SRMS) in the countries of the AERO region
  • Provide briefings and trainings for Country Safety colleagues and relevant staff
  • Manage safety information and reporting at regional level
  • Provide support during critical incidents and crises
  • Support the RSC in his duties and deputize him during his absence

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 5 years of practical experience in sector area working for an INGO

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Management and/or supervisory experience within an INGO or similar organisation
  • Capacity building experience within an INGO or similar organisation
  • Experience with critical incident and crisis management
  • Experience with information gathering, analysis and report writing
  • Experience with delivering safety-related training
  • Experience working in hostile or hazardous environments
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective and contextualized documentation, protocols and systems
  • Proven ability to conduct and produce high quality safety risk assessments (SRA’s)
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proven commitment to accountability practices
  • Proven ability to work both autonomously and with a team
  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in multicultural work settings
  • Experience working with national partners, local/regional/government authorities and stakeholders, and UN organisations
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective and contextualized protocols and systems
  • Experience with information gathering analysis and report writing
  • Ability to conduct and produce high quality safety risk assessments (SRAs)
  • Experience with critical incident management
  • Full professional proficiency in English
  • Master's degree in political science, peace & conflict studies, history, international relations, disaster management, safety/security or a military education

We offer

Contract length: 2 years

Band: G non-management

Designation of Duty Station:one of DRC Country Offices (to be negotiated)

Start date: July 2023

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment based on the duty station.
