You have:

Contract

This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

The UNV Regional Offices (RO) provide oversight and strategic guidance to the UNV Field Units in their respective geographical assignments and are mainly accountable for the placement of UN Volunteers mobilized for UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes focused on peace, development and humanitarian needs. Furthermore, the Regional Offices represent, and strategically position, UNV and bring UNV’s services and solutions closer to its partners from governments, UN entities, civil society and private sector. The Regional Offices also lead in scoping and delivering UNV’s advisory service offer on volunteerism promotion and integration.

Under the overall supervision of the Regional Manager and reporting to the Portfolio Manager, Regional Office, and with the technical guidance and supervision of the global Communications Specialist, the UNV Regional Communications Officer is responsible for strategic work planning, content research and production in the regional context, development and expansion of online presence, support to outreach and talent acquisition efforts in cooperation with the Field Units assigned to the Regional Office. He/she closely coordinates his/her work with the Communications team at UNV headquarters.

Planning and strategic communication:

• Develop and oversee regional communications and outreach strategies aligned with corporate priorities to position UNV’s offer.

• Guide Country Coordinators and FU communication personnel in annual work planning, as well as for country and photo missions.

• Lead the planning and budgeting of the Regional Office annual communications work plan, monitor its implementation to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Outreach and Engagement:

• Provide communication support for talent outreach campaigns and initiatives in coordination with FUs (and RO for non-FU countries), based on volunteer demand analysis and mobilization forecast.

• Lead the design and preparation of substantive and partner specific outreach materials to bolster mobilization efforts.

• Coordinate activities and events at the RO level, in collaboration with UN agencies, for annual, national and UN-recognized international celebrations, including International Volunteer Day (IVD); collect and analyze data for final reporting on events.

Content production and coordination:

• Guide personnel in the Regional Office and Field Units on communications formats, design, photography, video and promotional items.

• Research volunteer initiatives and experiences in the region for all communications purposes, in coordination with the Field Units.

• Lead and coordinate processes with Field Units to submit content for regional and corporate communications purposes.

• Coordinate content production and development of communications tools with the global communications team at UNV headquarters.

• Collect up-to-date visual assets (photography, infographics, etc.), along with production of videos for regional initiatives.

• Arrange for the translation of materials, as required, ensuring quality of such materials.

• Support Field Units in the region in the preparation of media tools and messaging for International Volunteers Day (IVD);

Social media and digital communication:

• Oversee social media content planning, selection of communication channels and social media platforms, to ensure audience engagement and measurable impact.

• Manage content for social media platforms in the region, monitor conversations and comments.

• Regularly report on social media analytics to inform and refine ongoing digital communication initiatives.

Brand Management:

• Develop consistent brand awareness, maintaining corporate style and editorial standards in online and print materials, multimedia, social platforms and other communication tools.

• Ensure alignment of corporate guidelines for photography and video production to maintain high standards of quality and storytelling.

Living conditions

Thailand is located in Southeast Asia. The climate is tropical, with the monsoon season running from May/June through October/November. Bangkok is the capital of Thailand, and it is also the most populated city in the country. It is located in the Chao Phraya River delta in the central part of the country. Bangkok has an estimated population of 8.75 million as of 2017 (13% of Thailand’s total population), based on data from the 2010 census. Over the past decades, Bangkok has grown rapidly with little urban planning or regulation. This has led to traffic congestion and air pollution, and there is frequent flooding of streets during the rainy season in the City’s low-lying areas. The cost of living in Thailand is relatively low, as compared to many other capitals in Southeast Asia. Housing is widely available in various sizes and at various price points. Private healthcare in Thailand is of excellent standard, and there are numerous top hospitals in Bangkok, which fall far below countries like the US in terms of price. There are numerous high-quality international schools available in Bangkok, with English as the language of instruction. Bangkok has different public transportation options, including the BTS Skytrain and MRT Underground, metered taxis, mobile-based ride-hailing services (Grab, All Thai Taxi, etc.), tuk tuks, motorbike taxis, buses and boats.
