This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The UNV Recruitment & Coordination Associate, would primarily be responsible for recruitment, coordination and volunteer management requirements related to the UNV inputs/assignments.

To function effectively, it is essential that the UNV Recruitment & Coordination Associate maintains close working relations with other staff of the host entities especially the HR teams as well as all serving and former UN Volunteers.

Under the direct supervision of UNV Country Coordinator, the UNV Recruitment & Coordination Associate will perform the following tasks:

Support in recruitment and coordination

• Initiates the recruitment process in UVP. • Works with field unit team, host entities and partners for talent acquisition outreach activities with an innovative approach. • Oversees and leads roster campaigns to bring in qualified talent in global UNV roster. • Liaises with candidates in the various stages of the recruitment process. • Liaises with host entities and partners regularly with recruitment status updates. • Keeps a close liaison with relevant colleagues in UNV Volunteer Service Centre and UNV Regional Office on recruitment. • Visits host entities and partners if required to speed up recruitment processes. • For large scale recruitments, works directly with the host entities as part of their extended team to ensure swift recruitment. • Monitors life cycle of recruitment process to updates supervisors as necessary.

Support in volunteer management

• Makes sure entitlements of serving UN Volunteers are processed in a timely manner. • Maintains up-to-date leave records. • Liaise with UNV HQ on visa, logistical and travel arrangements of arriving UN Volunteers and their recognized dependents. • Undertakes all the tasks to ensure that all UN Volunteers arriving for the first time in the country are met and pre-arrival arrangements are made. • Undertakes all the tasks, according to a checklist, to ensure that all UN volunteers arriving for the first time in the country are met and arrangements made for temporary accommodation, while the UN volunteer tries to secure permanent accommodation. • Helps international UN Volunteers process their visa extensions. • Maintain up to date contact records of all serving and former UN Volunteers

Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Flexibility, adaptability, and ability and willingness to operate independently in austere, re-mote and potentially hazardous environments for protracted periods, involving physical hardship and little comfort, and including possible extensive travel within the area of operations; willingness to transfer to other duty stations within area of operations as may be necessary;

Genuine commitment towards the principles of voluntary engagement, which includes solidarity, compassion, reciprocity and self-reliance; and commitment towards the UN core values.

At least 3 years of experience in human resources, recruitment or talent management. Experience of working with UN and/or development sector is a definite advantage. Good knowledge of the UN system, NGOs and related planning and coordination practices. Knowledge of MS Office applications.

As this is a national UNV assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. UNV Field Unit will help you open a Pak rupee bank account with Standard Chartered Bank or any other local bank at your duty station.

Assignment remarks: This is a national UNV assignment and a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of PKR 88,483 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service.
