How can you make a difference?

Scope of Work:

The Consultant will be responsible for supporting sector teams in managing demonstration projects in Protection, Health, WASH, Education and Adolescent and Youth Programming. For most of these projects the Consultant will support teams (sector specialists, government partners) in:

  1. Developing/refining the project design tools.
  2. Identifying the optimal implementation modalities and partners. These can include one or combination of the following: partnership with civil society organizations or academic institutions; implementation through private contractors; co-implementation with existing government structures on the level of oblast or territorial hromadas.
  3. Developing of a monitoring plan (for collecting programme data and for risk mitigation measures linked to the operational modality)
  4. Collecting baseline data.
  5. Developing a detailed implementation plan and oversee each implementation step through management, coordination, liaison, and monitoring.
  6. Following the launch of each demonstration project managing the analysis and documentation of results.
  7. Organizing periodic review meetings with partners to review progress, identify/address bottlenecks
  8. Developing a communication visibility plan for disseminating the progress of the demonstration projects (e.g., local authorities, partners)
  9. Participating in coordination meetings at local level with partners (Government, civil society, UN)
  10. Influencing designs/budgets/plans at local level building on the results of the demonstration projects.

The recovery and nexus projects that the Consultant shall support sector teams will be from the Annual Workplan 2024 demonstration (nexus/recovery) projects in Education, Child Protection, Health, Adolescents Development, Social Policy and WASH, including as part of KFW implementation in priority municipalities.

Centres

  • The design of Resilience Centres and Day Care service is tested, including through SOPs aligned with national legislation.
  • Tools and templates developed for documentation of concept design and evidence of impact.
  • The analysis of service provision and feedback, as well as documentation of best practices are conducted.
  • All 10 points as noted above ensured including Resilience Centre concept is documented: coverage, referrals, costs, etc.

Education Demonstration Project: Back-to-School (return to face-toface learning)

  • UNICEF support package to facilitate the return to blended learning in Krasnohradskiy and Lozivskiy districts is implemented.
  • Tools and templates developed for documentation of concept design and evidence of impact.
  • The analysis of service provision and feedback, as well as documentation of best practices are conducted.
  • All 10 points as noted above ensured including the documentation and dissemination of the concept.

Demonstration Project (e.g., climate resilient WASH systems)

  • Data is collected and processed to generate evidence for project design.
  • Demonstration Project is designed and coordinated with local authorities.
  • Tools and templates developed for documentation of concept design and evidence of impact.
  • The analysis of service provision and feedback, as well as documentation of best practices are conducted.
  • All 10 points as noted above ensured including the documentation and dissemination of the concept

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in one of the following fields is required: Social Sciences, Business Administration, Humanities, IT, Sciences, Law.

Professional experience:

  • At least seven years of experience in project management in public or private sector.
  • Proven record of managing cross-sectoral projects (portfolio), including at scale (>USD 250,000 budget).
  • Previous experience in managing project teams of over 10 staff members; private and public contractors.
  • Previous experience working for international organizations, national ministries, or large corporate enterprises.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
