What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose of the position

The Business Process Manager provides specialized expertise in records and information management to design, implement, deliver and monitor processes, services and solutions for the management of ICRC records. They define the roadmap for the evolution of the records management ecosystem.

They contribute to the mission of the Information Governance unit in delivering effective, compliant and accountable information management policies and practices for the ICRC.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Develops the processes and services for the management of electronic records along their lifecycle until their disposal or transfer to archive. Identifies opportunities for improvement and modernization.
  • Assesses the needs and feedbacks from users and stakeholders of the records management solutions.
  • Defines the functional specifications and communicates the business needs to the product owner and the Technology and Information delivery team for the records management solutions and prioritize the new features in partnership with the product owner.
  • Is accountable for the acceptance of the delivered product.
  • In partnership with the functional application manager, operates and maintains the records management solutions as a business administrator.
  • Promotes a ‘recordkeeping by design’ approach in the implementation of ICRC IT products and provides his/her expertise and advice to the different product lines.
  • Leads or contributes to the production of policies related to information governance, records management and digital archiving.
  • Leads or contributes to change management and training activities related to records management processes and solutions.
  • Performs a technology watch on records and information management trends and industry standards and shares the outcomes with the internal partners.

Relationships

  • Internally, interacts mainly with the Information Management network, the Archives team, the Technology & Information product lines teams and support teams.
  • Externally, interacts with service and solution providers, peers from other organizations, professional associations and expert groups.

Education, experience and skills required

  • Degree qualification in information science, archival science, or related discipline.
  • Expertise in records and information management standards, theory and practice.
  • Knowledge of digital preservation standards and best practices.
  • Experience in implementing document and records management solutions and processes in large-scale, multi-cultural organization an asset
  • Knowledge of records management and information governance in Microsoft 365, an asset
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Purview solutions, an asset
  • Experience of OpenText Content Server solution, an asset.
  • Certifications in agile methodologies, business analysis and product ownership, an asset.
  • Fluent command of English and French.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including influencing, communicating information to a non-technical audience, building relationships, and developing collaborative working across different teams to deliver improved outcomes.
  • Being comfortable working in a changing digital environment and adapting swiftly to change.
