Overview

You have:

Contract

Org. Setting and Reporting The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies, Funds and Programs.

This position is located in the Logistics Support Unit (LSU) within the Delivery & Return Section (DRS) of the Supply Chain Service (SCS) at the United Nations Global Service Centre in Brindisi, Italy.

The Receiving and Inspection (R&I) Assistant is under the supervision of the Chief, Logistics Support Unit (LSU).

Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Logistics Support Unit, the R&I Assistant is responsible for assisting in receiving all deliveries of mission supplies, assists in conducting physical inspection of all UN property in the mission and participates in various phases of the management of assets within the mission, including UMOJA transactions.

Within delegated authority, the R&I Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assists in receiving all deliveries of mission supplies.
  • Assists in conducting physical inspections and quality control of mission United Nations Property to ensure that all items are accounted for and in serviceable condition.
  • Assists in identifying anomalies and/or discrepancies and the details thereof, or any other reason for rejection and record in Damage Discrepancy Reports (DDR), posted on the system and presented to R&I supervisor and Procurement for immediate action.
  • Processes Goods’ Receipt reports in UMOJA and Receiving and Inspection (R&I Reports) in the electronic inventory management system.
  • Assists stakeholders with the application of property management policies and procedures to meet organizational standards and goals set up in the DOS Directives, LD Guidelines and mission's SOPs.
  • Acts as focal point for the production of ECC and BI reports for management, UNHQ and auditors as required to meet organizational standards and goals set up in the DOS Directives, LD Guidelines and mission's SOPs.
  • Prepares reports and enters data into UMOJA to initiate various processes and provides updates of inventory status on a regular basis.
  • Assists the supervisor in coordinating within preparation of equipment write-offs and processing of write-off in UMOJA including Warehousing and Inventory transactions.
  • Prepares statistical analysis and trend analysis on United Nations property.
  • Maintains the Mission Support database, including drafting of faxes and liaising with clients both at UNGSC and United Nations missions and agencies
  • Performs other duties, as required.

Work Experience A minimum of three (03) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of inventory control, property management, logistics, procurement, or other related fields or related area is required.

Experience in the use of SAP / ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is desirable.

Experience in the use of Power BI (Business Intelligence) is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of the other is desirable.
