Contract

This is a NO-D contract. This kind of contract is known as National Professional Officers. It is normally only for nationals. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 7 years of experience, depending on education.

The salary for this job should be more than 9,020 USD.

Salary for a NO-D contract in San Jose

The salary of a NO-D depends on the duty station. The minimum salary there is 4,107,417 CRC (~9,020 USD) Please note that depending on the location, a higher post adjustment might still result in a lower purchasing power.

Location: San Jose de Costa Rica (Full Time, Fixed Term one year renewable)

The Head of Office leads the Costa Rica country team in implementing the Government-UNFPA country programme of cooperation. Reporting to the non-resident Country Director, the Head of Office ensures transformative and relevant results and contributing to Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). S/he is a principled leader with high ethical standards, who promotes and defends human rights in line with international norms and standards.

The Head of Office is responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of UNFPA Costa Rica activities, and actively supports the UN country team, strategically positioning UNFPA’s work by establishing a dialogue, promoting partnerships and strategic alliances with counterparts in government, UN system, multi/bilateral agencies, civil society, private-sector and other stakeholders.

The Head of Office in Costa Rica manages a team of technical, programme and operations personnel supporting country programme implementation, managing and leveraging resources for the achievement of high-quality results.

In order to qualify you would need:

An advanced degree in field relevant to the mandate of UNFPA[1], in combination with at least seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in the field of international development, with demonstrated ability to carry out programme design, and lead /manage teams to achieve results. In addition we need someone with experience in advocacy and policy dialogue, as well as resource mobilization and partnership development. Our ideal candidate is fluent (spoken, read and written) in English and Spanish.
