How can you make a difference?

​​Purpose of this consultancy is to transform manual work processes into digital eProcesses with degree of automation, visualization and analytics. This involves development of new eProcesses as per the requirements from the business-process owners and enhancement of the existing eProcesses as per the revised work-processes, using UNICEF standard platforms such as SharePoint, PowerApps, PowerBI and Microsoft tools such as .NET. ​

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

The individual consultant will work under the direct supervision of the T4D Specialist at the UNICEF ROSA ICT4D Section. He / She will also closely collaborate with relevant Programme and Cross-sectoral sections and Knowledge Management focal points at the Regional Office.

  1. Technical support to the development, implementation, the maintenance of business process automation tools, development of dashboards and improvement and post-production support to the internally built software solutions which includes:
  • In close collaboration with the relevant business process owners; review, redesign, develop and implement 18 existing digital workprocess-automation tools using UNICEF standard platform SharePoint, PowerApps, PowerBI, .Net etc.
  • Gather business requirements, design, develop and implement 6 new eProcesses and automation tools to and provide post-production training and support as relevant.
  • Develop/update technical documentation and user’s manual as relevant for both new and old eProcesses.
  • Maintain source codes in compliance with UNICEF standards and policies.
  • Manage changes and apply upgrades, security updates and patches on the existing and new process automation tools as required.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Education: ​​University degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology management, business administration or related social science field is required.​
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in information technology management and business operations, specifically in software development to support business operations and knowledge management, in a large international organization and/or corporation is required. Experience in a UN organization is an asset.
  • Language Requirement: A Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Nepali is highly desirable. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset. ​
  • Competencies:

    • ​​Demonstrated substantial hands-on experience in software development of web-based applications using Microsoft frameworks tools and platforms, eg. Net and MS SQL Server, and Open-Source platforms, eg. PHP and MySQL.
    • ​Demonstrated substantial hands-on experience in development solutions using SharePoint, PowerApps, PowerBI, SQL Server etc.
    • ​Experience in managing IT projects, particularly software development projects.

    • ​Familiarity with and good understanding of Microsoft IT network environment concepts and operations, eg. server and VM installation and administration, Active Directory Services.

    • ​Certification in one or more of these ICT technical competencies: ICT Project Management, Information Security, Telecommunications, Networks Information Security and Software Engineering and Programming highly desirable.
    • ​Experience in developing mobile applications desirable.
    • ​Knowledge of UNICEF’s ICT landscape, standard platforms and KM solutions an advantage.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
