The Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) section within the Private Fundraising & Partnerships (PFP) works with National Committees and UNICEF regional and country offices to maximize income and drive income growth globally. Within the PSFR, the Global Philanthropy (GP) team serves the global strategic lead for fundraising and partnerships with High Net Worth Individuals and family foundations. At the same time, PFP has established Regional Support Centres (RSC) in UNICEF Regional Offices, including East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) to provide integrated strategic oversight, support and guidance to UNICEF fundraising teams in designated PSFR countries in each region. The RSCs collaborate with Country Offices and independent UNICEF National Committees, which may be located in their region. The job will report to the Partnerships Manager, (Global Philanthropy, EAPRO), whose mission is to drive the growth of high value philanthropic partnerships in the EAPRO region with additional responsibilities to support philanthropy growth in South Asia. As a member of the RSC team, the post-holder will have particular responsibilities to ensure effective communication, strong collaboration, and work towards aligned priorities. activity in South Asia, and the post-holder will also engage in this area, which is part of the UNICEF ROSA Region.

How can you make a difference?

Under supervision of the Partnerships Manager, Global Philanthropy, EAPRO you will work to enable strategic growth of private philanthropy among High Net Worth Individuals and family foundations in the EAPRO Region, you will support cultivation and solicitation of the highest value prospects for UNICEF among high net worth individuals in line with the global HNWI prospect list, and global foundations strategy. Furthermore you will coordinate effectively with corporate and major donor fundraisers in country offices in the region, and collaborate closely with the RSC staff working on market development offering strategic analysis where needed. Additionally, you will also have responsibility for core capacity building among UNICEF philanthropic fundraisers within EAPRO, with additional support to South Asia.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  1. HWNI Prospect Identification and Cultivation

Under direction of Partnerships Manager, and working closely with CO PSFR Chiefs and NC Fundraisers, and Region·a1 Office Market Development colleagues you will:

-Develop high value and realistic prospect list of HWNI potential donors in EAPRO with key attributes of Ability, Accessibility, and Affinity.

-Develop and facilitate implementation of cultivation plans for prospects. Undertake preparation of detailed value propositions for prospects, and facilitate grant agreement process. Manage inputs and coordination with Geneva GP team for global new business process.

  1. Foundation Engagement

Support engagement of key private family foundations in EAP/SA through dialogue, consultations and events, undertaking where appropriate the development of bespoke high value foundation partnership proposals, and facilitation of grant agreement process

  1. Philanthropic Partnership Relationship Management

Support Partnership Manager in relationship management activities for global and EAPRO philanthropic partners, contributing to realization of global HNWI and family foundation income targets.

  1. Financial Innovation

Support Partnership Manager in development and marketing of Financial Innovation products adapted for EAPRO, as appropriate for the region.

  1. Philanthropic Resource to RSC team in market development

Provide strategic analysis and support to EAPRO Chief, Private Sector Fundraising and RSC team in market development and planning for philanthropy within EAPRO, with additional responsibilities in South Asia.

  1. Regional Capacity Building

Develop and adapt materials, and act as focal point for capacity building with UNICEF philanthropic fundraisers in EAPRO and South Asia, providing/coordinating approaching support as need at all levels.

  • Provides leadership and strategic directions on deploying different channels to recruit and retain individual donors and supporters, considering budget, performance, competition, supplier availability and regulations.
  • Oversees the acquisition, retention and stewardship of pledge donors. Ensures adequate diversification of the acquisition portfolio across different channels and techniques, e.g. face-to-face, digital, DRTV, telemarketing.
  • Develops existing and new relationships with external suppliers to optimize the provision of fundraising services.
  • Ensures effective management and protection of donor data, and analysis and segmentation of such data.
  • Assures optimal supporter experience via a two-way engagement that builds supporters’ loyalty and maximizes lifetime value.

Your key achievement and impact of Results:

You will be a key enabler for realization of outcome 2.1 of the PFP Impact Plan (2018/2021) - Gross contributions from major donors exceed US$583 million from foundations exceed US$1.3 billion 2018-2021. Asia represents the greatest source of untapped wealth potential for UNICEF with 560 billionaires controlling $14 trillion in assets, and with mainland China, India and Hong Kong among the top ten locations for billionaires globally (source: "Wealth-X"). To date, UNICEF has not effectively captured the opportunity of individual and institutional private wealth in Asia. Working closely with the Partnerships Manager, you will play a catalytic role in enabling UNICEF to meet its regional growth goals for philanthropy, making a significant contribution to growth in philanthropic income globally.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in in one of the following fields is required: Development, Journalism, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, Management or another relevant technical field *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in philanthropic/high- value fundraising, Preference will be given to candidates with experience in direct relationship cultivation and management of philanthropic partnerships in excess of $1 million.
  • Related work experience in East Asia and the Pacific region is considered a valuable asset
  • Relevant marketing experience will be considered as contributing to this work experience.
  • Familiarity with the private sector.
  • Familiarity with and exposure to UNICEF programmes desirable.
  • International fundraising experience is an asset.
  • Previous managerial experience is essential
