How can you make a difference?

UNICEF Thailand Country Office (TCO) is seeking an individual consultant to provide support in the assessment of the effectiveness of the Children’s Rights and Business (CRB) training, organized in collaboration with Global Compact Network Thailand (GCNT) and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) in terms of usage of trained companies in understanding, translating training materials into actions, and reporting of CRB’s related results.

Work Assignment:

• Comprehensive desk review of available documentation – Project Documents, annual reports, evaluation reports, mid-year and end-year reviews, datasets, government documents, publications, and studies.

• Interviews and focus group discussion (online).

• Preparation of draft and final reports.

Work Schedule and deliverables: Overall, the rapid assessment is planned to take place between September-November 2022 with no more than 60 working days

Kick off telecon / videoconference with UNICEF staff

As soon as possible after the consultant is contracted

Deliverable 1: Desk review – Development of the draft inception report describing the complete methodology approach to conduct the work, including all tools fully drafted. All design issues under discussion to that point to be answered, any revisions to the issues and questions, and issues of reference group role and supervisory quality assurance.

Two weeks after kick-off

Comments and Q&A on inception report draft

One week after the draft submitted

Deliverable 2: Final inception report with obtained ethical clearance (A PowerPoint presentation with preliminary findings, conclusions, and recommendations. After the data collection process, the consultant shall present the preliminary findings, conclusions, and recommendations that can feed into future initiatives.)

One week after the comments

Two months after the inception report

Deliverable 3: Draft assessment report of ideally 25 pages but not more than 40 plus executive summary and annexes that will be revised until approved by UNICEF.

Two weeks after data collection is finalized

End Products: Finalized report as per agreed work assignments.

Duration of Contract: 60 days between 30 September 2022 – 31 December 2022.

Official Travel: No travel is anticipated but UNICEF will cover the cost as per existing policy and procedure if required.

Work Location: The location of the service can be done remotely, but preferably in Bangkok.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Mandatory requirements master’s degree in International Development, Public Administration, Development Programme & Evaluation, Business Administration, Communication, or any related social science discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience
  • At least 5 years of solid experience in corporate sustainability reporting
  • Familiarity with GRI, DJSI, Principles 10 (Global Compact), CRBP (Children s Rights and Business Principles), and THSI are strongly desired
  • Demonstrated understanding of Shared Values Principles, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and Corporate Sustainability materials by the Stock Exchange of Thailand, UN Guiding Principle or Business and Human rights.
  • Excellent understanding of evaluation principles and methodologies, including capacity in an array of qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods
  • A minimum of 5 evaluations led at the project or program levels with national/ international organizations.
  • Experience in conducting evaluations for UN agencies or major bilateral donor country programmes, and familiarity with UNEG Norms and Standards are strongly preferred
  • Strong English report writing skills and a track record of producing high quality reports, Ability to communicate in Thai is essential.
  • Strong understanding of climate change and environmental practices in corporate sustainability works would be a strong asset
  • Desirable requirements Experience in conducting project evaluations of UNICEF or other UN organizations is strongly preferred
