You have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of two (02) years of working experience in logistics, supply chain management, property management or related areas is required.
  • Experience with receiving and inspection of incoming assets, inventory checking is desirable.
  • A valid driving license Type B is required.
  • A valid forklift operator certificate (up to 3 tons) is desirable.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.

• All materials received are duly received, inspected, segregated and properly stored and/or disposed of. • All anomalies or discrepancies found during inspections are correctly reported and recorded.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunication Technologies services and training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programs of the UN system worldwide. The UNGSC is seeking to hire six (6) Individual Contractors for supporting warehousing activities related to receiving, inspection, and disposal of incoming assets. These positions are located in the UNGSC, Brindisi, Italy, within the Warehouse and Distribution Unit, Delivery and Return Section, Supply Chain Service. The Individual Contractors (Receiving & Inspection Assistant) will work under the supervision of the Chief Warehouse and Distribution. The Individual Contractors will perform the following duties: • Assist in receiving deliveries and verify the quantity and general condition of cargo including physical activities related to the unloading operations and cargo handling . • Support the physical inspection of the materials received. Physical inspections include opening of boxes, containers, de-stuffing and re-stuffing as necessary and the driving of light and medium capacity UN vehicles and/or operation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE). • Ensure that all anomalies or discrepancies found during inspections are accurately recorded and reported. • Assist in the execution of physical disposal activities of materials, including all types of waste materials. • Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief of Warehouse and Distribution Unit.

Qualifications/special skills

High school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of two (02) years of working experience in logistics, supply chain management, property management or experience in related material management or warehouse distribution activity is required. Experience with receiving and inspection of incoming assets, inventory checking is desirable. A valid driving license Type B is required. A valid forklift operator certificate (up to 3 tons) is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
