The UNDP Accelerator Lab in Malaysia is looking for one online volunteer to carry out qualitative research through online interviews and focus group discussions with civil society groups working on riverine conservation. This research will be integrated into a report on placemaking methods for riverine conservation. The online volunteer will engage pre-identified groups on their experience in interfacing with government authorities and agencies. While the interactions will be mainly in English, a basic understanding of Bahasa Malaysia is helpful. The online volunteer will also need to carry out both creative and analytical writing to communicate the research findings.

Public information and reporting
UNDP Malaysia is producing a document on grassroots-led placemaking as a strategy for riverine conservation. The document is aimed at providing guidance to civil society organizations on placemaking frameworks and tools, and to advocate for government agencies to invest in interfaces and enabling environments that support such work. A preliminary survey of riverine groups and their interactions with government authorities and agencies has been carried out; follow-up qualitative research will dive deeper into the drivers that enable or hinder these interactions.
