Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Office of the Executive Director, within the publishing and events unit.

Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Senior Digital Printing Technician may be responsible for the following duties:

  • Participates, as a member of a team, in operating digital printing equipment.
  • Operates the digital printing equipment in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Takes responsibility for identifying hazardous tasks/operations in accordance with the guidelines set out in the SOPs.
  • Receives job in a variety of formats, e.g. PDF or native file (Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Performs all digital printing equipment operator functions as noted in the job specifications.
  • Maintains knowledge of safety requirements of job and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and well-organized work area.
  • Informs supervisor of equipment problems.
  • Operates finishing equipment attached to digital printing equipment.
  • Occasional work outside of traditional office may be required during peak periods.
  • Performs other related work as required.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Physical Requirements: - Occasional lifting of heavy objects - Standing for prolonged periods on occasion - Occasional exposure to airborne particles when refilling paper in machines. - Environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity. - Noise level can be loud on occasion. - Work area has fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.

    Education High school diploma or equivalent.

    Work Experience Previous experience of digital printing processes or related area is required.

    Languages For the position(s) advertised, fluency in either French or English is required; and knowledge of the other is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

    Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

    Special Notice The conditions of service are governed by the United Nations Staff Rules and Regulations. This is a temporary appointment for an initial two months and may be subject to extension (a part time arrangement may be possible).
