The UNICEF office in Ecuador has prioritized the promotion of the children's agenda throughout the territory. It is necessary that the mandate for children be present in the agenda of the country's public and private institutions. The fundraising team has the goal of mobilizing resources and promoting alliances with both the public and private sectors to strengthen the scope of UNICEF mission in Ecuadorian children.

For every child, a purpose

The purpose of this position is to strengthen collaborations with key stakeholders in and outside the country to provide an interface for strategic resource mobilization, communications / advocacy, knowledge and partnerships to reach results for children.

The incumbent of the post will be responsible for establishment of partnerships, searching for opportunities to link private sector, public donors, financial institutions and other relevant partners to UNICEF children programmes.

This role will collaborate closely with communications and programme sections, with focus on delivering and establish partnerships.

How can you make a difference?

  1. Partnership’s development and promotion of children cause
    1. Supports the implementation of the partnership and resource mobilization strategy.
    2. Establish stakeholders for a resource mobilization strategy implementation in order to leverage resources oriented to children equity. Maintains knowledge and intelligence of current and prospective partners and relevant stakeholders, contributing to a database of key contacts and to UNICEF’s database.
    3. Performs actions for engagement and development of communication products to enhance UNICEF’s visibility and influence with existing and prospective partners and key stakeholders.
    4. Provide support to communications section in relation to advocacy campaigns and initiatives on key rights issues by maximizing collaborations and existing partnerships platforms.
    5. Identify partnerships and network with local innovators , youth organizations, NGOS, cultural and religious organisations, the private sector, local media and academia to build and provide a space to nurture and test new and innovative ideas, develop the next generation of thought leaders and build local capacity.

  2. Children’s rights and business
    1. Provide support to create the Ecuador CO Child Rights and Business strategy as a main advocacy tool towards achieving programmatic results, through coordination with office in relation to advocacy, C4D and strategic alliances with Government, industry bodies and civil society.
    2. Provide assistance on the implementation of the Child Rights and Business Principles (CRBP) and document and disseminate good practices implemented by companies related to the CRBP.
    3. Organize workshops / seminars with industry groupings and associations (national and international), investors, and government to disseminate findings of research, guidance and good practices related to CRBP.
    4. Increase awareness among stakeholders to promote commitment to integrate children’s rights indicators or considerations in their supply chain frameworks.
    5. Support industry-wide and multi-stakeholders initiatives on children’s rights; identifying key areas of joint policy and advocacy action.
    6. Establish baseline, and key performance indicators for activities and measure results of collaborative action.
    7. Support development and testing innovation product and processes to strengthen and improve efficiency and effectiveness of UNICEF’s programming, monitoring and evaluation, advocacy and communication.
    8. Document tested innovation projects and processes and ensure effective sharing and generation of knowledge around innovations in the Country Office as well as with UNICEF global innovation network.
  3. Donor relations and resource mobilization
    1. Review with supervisors the strategic priorities and need set out by the Country Programme and in collaboration with programme sections and Deputy Representative tea, expands the fundraising strategy to raise contributions from National Committees, public and private donors.
    2. Identify and map out areas of integration between partnerships, Child Rights and Business and programmes and inform the Country Management Team about the potential high-impact partnership opportunities in favor of programme results and advocacy initiatives.
    3. Explore opportunities to harness the private and public sector financial contributions to UNICEF programmes through supports to implementing partners, grants and corporate pathways to pledge.
    4. Help support strategic liaison with donors.
    5. Support programme sections in developing and finalizing donor proposals and reporting, to help ensuring harmonization and quality.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Education: Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the field of work.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in external relations, liaison and / or any resource-mobilization related activities, preferably with the private sector in an international organization is required.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
