Background UNESCO Jakarta needs a Public Information Officer to create and enable communication between the organisation and news media outlets as well as the general public. The Public Information Officer shall ensure any statements released to the press and the public are accurate and adhere to official policy or guidelines. II. Objectives The main purpose of the assignment is to draft communicate information through different types of media and coordinate information flow to the public on a broad range of UNESCO programmes and activities. III. Outputs The expected outputs from this assignment are, but not limited to, press releases, speech, news flash, promotional materials, and exposure of UNESCO Jakarta activities in the media and the public to increase awareness of UNESCO and its activities. Long Description ---------------- IV. Taks and Resonsiblities Under the direct supervision of the Director of UNESCO Jakarta, the Consultant will be responsible for developing an effective communication sharing about UNESCO activities with the public and media. To this end, the key responsibilities of Consultant shall: 1\. Communicate critical information effectively to the public, including but not limited to, collaborate with the units to develop news flash and promotional materials; 2\. Draft speeches and arrange interviews for the Director or appointed programme specialist; 3\. Write, edit and review all media content and press releases; Establish and maintain positive relationships with all media outlets; 4\. Address the requests for information from the public, the press, and related organisations; 5\. Carry out other related office duties as requested by the Director of UNESCO Jakarta; 6\. Submit to UNESCO for approval the monthly report including the outputs of each activities during the contract period. 7\. Monitor information-related to UNESCO Jakarta regularly and irregularly. Long Description ---------------- V. Inputs UNESCO will provide the report and other necessary information required to develop, among others, a press release, speech, news flash, response to media. VI. Work Experience •Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience in communication-related field. •Experience in report writing, managing websites, social media platforms, production of content, media coverage. •Previous experience in copy-editing will be an asset. •Familiarity with United Nations and UNESCO report writing requirements.
