Contract

Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
Under the direct supervision of the RCO Team Leader, the incumbent will undertake the following tasks:
- Produce high-quality communication documents in English and Spanish
- Research, draft and edit communication materials (articles, press releases, human interest stories, fact sheets and others) for both traditional and modern, social media for advocacy, social mobilization and resource mobilization activities; contribute to the qualitative aspects of production (e.g., translation, graphic design);
- Lead the process of or substantially contributes to the preparation of various written reports, e.g., draft sections of internal and external information products, studies, background papers, project proposals, donor reports, policy guidelines or related documents.
- Lead and coordinate inter-agency (including NGOs) joint communication activities, development of key messages and the production of information content aligned with Humanitarian Country team advocacy priorities.
- Conducts reporting and analysis, by establishing and maintaining reporting system within the Country; drafting and distribution of regular products on the humanitarian situation in Malabo; ensuring flow of information and analysis of developments in the including tracking trends and sharing reports with UN Country Team.
- Monitor and analyse current events, public opinion, and press, identifies issues and trends, and advises management on appropriate action/responses and approaches for media relations; coordinate with key regional stakeholders on advocacy initiatives to ensure coherent media strategy and common messaging.
- Produce multimedia content as well as of information products (e.g. press kits, press releases, feature articles, speeches, booklets, brochures, backgrounders, audio-visual materials, radio spot program, etc.), to include proposing topics, undertaking research, determining appropriate medium and target audience, preparing production plans, writing drafts, obtaining clearances and finalizing texts, editing copy, and coordinating design approval, printing procedures and distribution;
- Prepare, on the basis of official UN documentation and other sources, initial drafts of articles, op-eds, blogs for publication on UN and partner platforms;
- Produce or oversee production of specific types (e.g. print, broadcast, social media etc.) of information communications products (e.g. press kits, press releases, feature articles, key messages, brochures, backgrounders, audio-visual materials, social media content, etc.), to include proposing topics, undertaking research, determining appropriate medium and target audience, preparing production plans, writing drafts, obtaining clearances and finalizing texts, editing copy, and coordinating design approval, printing procedures and distribution.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
Areas of education / specialization: Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or similar field; a first-level university degree or equivalent in combination with relevant training and/or professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree
Required experience:

Experience remark:
Minimum 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in communication, print and broadcast media, interactive digital media, public information, or other relevant programmes; experience with peacebuilding or child-focused programming in conflict-affected countries is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
