Overview

Assist in creating public information materials and support events.

You have:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.

Work Location

This position is in the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region, under the direct supervision of the Project Management Officer in SALW DDR, the working loaction will be in Addis Abeba.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in drafting and editing content for public information materials, including press releases, newsletter articles, blogs and social media; • Assist in preparing meetings and seminars and draft meeting minutes. • Produce various multimedia materials for online and offline products, including infographics, motion graphics, short videos, publication covers, presentation templates and event flyers; • Prepare professional PPT decks focusing on the work, projects, publications and activities of the division; • Assist in video production including shooting and editing videos, mixing sound and animating slideshows, if required; • Assist in the organization and execution of the launch of publications and events; • Provide background research for public information materials; • Initiate and carry out assigned tasks/special projects.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable. NOTE: "Fluency equals a rating of "fluent" in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and "Knowledge of" equals a rating of "confident" in two of the four areas.
