Result of Service The consultant contributes to successful communications and advocacy of the UN Office for Partnerships, particularly as it relates to the Decade of Action to deliver the SDGs.

Work Location home based

Expected duration 6 month with a possibility of an extension.

Duties and Responsibilities This position is located in the UN Office for Partnerships (UN Partnerships). Guided by the priorities of the UN Secretary-General, UN Partnerships is the gateway to the UN system to connect and co-create partnerships to deliver solutions to reach everyone, everywhere. In its role as a connector, UN Partnerships proactively engages, convenes and leverages stakeholders, initiatives and solutions in support of the Decade of Action to keep the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). UN Partnerships oversees the SDG Advocates programme, the UN Fund for International Partnerships (UNFIP), the UN Democracy Fund (UNDEF, and the SDG Strategy Hub. The incumbent will support all initiatives of the UN Partnerships and report to the Executive Director of UN Partnerships, and work closely with other members of the team. Responsibilities:

¿ Contributes to the UN Office for Partnerships and UN Leadership's visual presence on a range of social media platforms and websites, with an emphasis on key events on 2022/23 calendar.

¿ Independently undertakes design assignments, including high priority requests, for a variety of activities including websites, campaigns, major conferences, international days, and events, etc. that are led and/or supported by the UN Office for Partnerships.

¿ Participates in initial meetings with the UN Partnerships leadership and other relevant partners to discuss potential design projects, e.g. substantive content, communication objectives, media (including electronically published products) and design options, technical specifications, schedules/deadlines, etc.

¿ Conceptualizes and develops design proposals for review by the UN Office for Partnerships leadership, which may include data visualisation, photographic, illustrative or abstract graphic solutions.

¿ Ensures cohesiveness of the final materials and their alignment with the brand values of the UN Office for Partnerships and the UN system.

¿ Prepares all approved designs in electronic format for final review and printing; reviews color and print proofs as required.

¿ Provides guidance and support throughout the project production process; coordinates and follows-up with clients and other relevant parties (e.g. proofreaders, production staff and cartography staff, etc.)

¿ Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/special skills A first-level university degree in visual communication or related field is required. A minimum of 15 year of progressively responsible experience in graphic design and layout, including 10 in the context of international development, is required Experience with global communications and advocacy projects and campaigns is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
