This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of (Health Officer) or his designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Public Health Specialist will:

  • Plan with the relevant Health and Nutrition section officer the targeted population in need for the continuity of services project in response to COVID-19 highly affected districts.
  • Coordinate with the relevant stakeholders and mainly the DOHs within the southern provinces the project plan.
  • Assist in implementation of project activities across the supported provinces in coordination with the Health section and other sections as required.
  • Maintain relevant and UpToDate data about the COVID -19 situation in affected districts and project response activities and the progress in implementation.
  • Maintain close follow up with the relevant DOHs and stakeholders and provide weekly progress feedback in coordination with the section.
  • Conducted or actively participate in Field Monitoring visits regarding the COVID-19 Response and project implementation.
  • Document and upload all relevant COVID-19 data in e-tools or other platform as requested.
  • Weekly updates and Monthly reports on the progress, of activities and response.

  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Pharmacy or Dentistry is required.
    • A minimum of two-years experience in his or her field is required and working in humanitarian and/or development context with UN or Govt or NGO is preferred

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

  • Public Health Experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages including GIS is required. Knowledge about the UN system would be an advantage.

Language skills:

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Arabic(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

Area of expertise:

Public health, Development programme/project administration

Area of expertise details:

  • Access to office space, equipment, IT support and any other systems and tools required to complete the objectives of the assignment including a host entity email address;
  • Access to shared host entity corporate knowledge, training and learning;
