Contract

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The mission of WHO's NCDs (The Programme) is to support the country in improving access to NCD care, and monitoring NCDs among population groups with focus on the most vulnerable, in a gender sensitive approach, in line with WHO GPW13 and SDG 3 targets.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

1.Assist in the development and implementation and follow up of NCDs including mental health and NUT health projects at country office

2.Identify priority health -related issues among the targeted population and ensure that these are properly addressed in an integrated primary healthcare approach.

3.Conduct close follow up with the Ministry of health and other partners to ensure proper and timely implementation of the program activities

4.Technically review program reports, proposals and other documents relevant to the program and make recommendations on best practice.

5.Arrange for and compile materials for the capacity building of the key units of PHC directorate of partners and health personnel at PHC level focusing on the above- mentioned areas.

6.Undertake regular field visits to attend field health coordination meetings

7.Contribute effectively to the implementation of the NCDs/ MH and NUT activities planned for Crisis Response8.Support in data collection, compilation and analysis related to the above-mentioned areas, to generate evidence based information for sound decision making and reorientation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: First-level university degree in public health Desirable: Advanced degree in public health (Masters) is desirable

Experience

Essential: At least 1 year of experience in health sector or public health related areas Desirable: Work with UN agency or national and International NGO in the above-mentioned areas is an asset

Skills

1.Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively.

2.Demonstrate ability to work in challenging and multidisciplinary settings.

3.Good knowledge of the right to health in the context of the country and health systems approaches to improving health rights.

4.Knowledge or understanding of WHO mandate and goals in the emergency incident management context.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 30,175 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable and paid in local currency) and 30 days of annual leave.
