We continue to support the country's transition from decades of war and natural disasters so that children, adolescents, and women can access the services they need and fulfill their right to survival, development, protection, and participation.

UNICEF works to promote and protect the rights and well-being of children and women in Afghanistan. Since 1949, we have been bringing basic services, including education, health, nutrition, protection, water, sanitation, and hygiene to those who are most in need, addressing inequities in each of these areas.

The Public Health Officer will provide technical guidance, delivery of, and operational support throughout the programming process to facilitate the achievement of concrete and sustainable results, according to plans, allocation, results-based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), organizational Strategic Plans and goals, standards of performance, and accountability framework.

• Assist in arranging health monthly coordination meetings, travel and missions and training.
• Review and analyze health extenders, extender reports and Third-Party Monitoring (TPM) reports, summarize reports and highlight key issues. • Maintain up-to-date health files and reports, and meeting minutes. • Assist in monitoring health budget and reporting requirements. • Follow up on extender monitoring plans and reporting. • Ensure the timely follow-up of tasks assigned to the health field staff and in outposts. • Keep track of health-related activities with the other sections and partners • Timely response to health partner communication and record requests • Provide technical support. Collect and compile emergency stock and response reports from partners on a monthly basis and submit them to the health officer for review and finalization. • Maintain contact with emergency partners in the areas of responsibility and ensure UNICEF prepositioned supplies are distributed as per agreed MoU with partners. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

The health UNV will be based in UNICEF CR Kabul Office where all the required facilities are available.
As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.

The volunteer will be eligible for pre-assignment benefits, during the assignment volunteer living allowance, learning, annual leave, insurance and end of assignment existing allowance.
