WHO Oman is seeking the support of an Online Volunteer to contribute to a range of communication, editorial, and digital knowledge management activities supporting the Country Office’s ongoing public health and development initiatives.

Under the guidance of the WHO Oman team, the Online Volunteer will support the review, editing, formatting, and development of technical and communication materials to enhance the clarity, accessibility, and outreach of WHO Oman’s work. The assignment will also contribute to strengthening digital communication products and maintaining online information resources.

The Online Volunteer will undertake the following activities:

  • Edit and proofread technical and communication documents to ensure high-quality English language, consistency, readability, and professional formatting.
  • Draft and refine web articles, public health stories, awareness content, newsletters, and communication materials aligned with WHO standards.
  • Support updates and maintenance of selected WHO Oman web and digital communication content.
  • Assist in developing communication products, including written captions, campaign text, visual content inputs, and outreach materials.
  • Conduct background research and compile references, summaries, and supporting information for public health communication products.
  • Support the organization and consolidation of communication and knowledge management materials for easier internal use and dissemination.

Volunteer Benefits: This assignment offers practical exposure to WHO communication and knowledge management processes within a public health environment. The volunteer will strengthen professional experience in public health communications, editorial development, digital outreach, and technical content preparation while contributing to WHO Oman’s visibility and engagement efforts.

By the end of the 12-week assignment, the Online Volunteer is expected to deliver:

We have principally agreed on the following ToR: • Documentation & publication o Reviewing, editing, and writing WCO publications incl. digital/web/SM content o Researching WCO history and past health sector contributions o Recording of past and ongoing Omani health sector achievements and initiatives • Communications and media o Contributing to WCO web content o Editing of Social media posts i.e. Instagram, LinkedIn, FaceBook, X tweets o Communicating on WCO supported events o Co-creating comms and media material and campaigns.

The volunteer is expected to develop the below outputs:

 E.g. WCO CCS, one annual report (reviews & evaluations, health sector profiles and other write ups)  E.g. A Research paper of past activities and achievements, list of WCO representatives, case studies  E.g. A Recording of PHC & UHC, NCD prevention and control, healthy places, health for peace, health cyber governance, health security, communicable disease control (HTM, NTD and others)
