Public Health Assistant

Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Description of task
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of [Public Health Consultant] or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV [Public Health Assistant] will:
- Assist and support WHO’s a local response to COVID-19 and related functions, which may include, but not be limited to:
- Surveillance and epidemiology
- Infection prevention and control
- Education or training of health professionals and non-health professionals
- Laboratory diagnostic testing
- Promoting vaccines
- Maintaining essential health services
- Management and analysis of data
- Communication with government and non-government entities
- Creation of public communication materials
- Translation or interpretation from English to Tetun and vice versa
- Administration
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, for example public health, nursing, pharmacy, nutrition.
Required experience:
24 Months
Experience remark:
- 1-2 years of employment or volunteer experience in a health-related field;
- Proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with and office technology equipment;
- Willingness to follow instructions, learn and be mentored
Language skills:
- Tetum(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
- English(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
