Result of Service Develop a TOT training module and activities on Psychosocial Support and Building Resiliency. The TOT module delivery will consist of a 3-day skills and knowledges building and 2-day of practice by participants to deliver the subjects. a. The TOT training module should be divided into 6 individual modules with the following topics: i. Stress (Basic- cumulative and Burnout with focus on recognizing signs and symptoms and build on the coping skills ii. Critical incident stress- Acute stress reactions-Acute stress disorder-PTSD (trauma), vicarious trauma and Psychological First Aid. iii. Depression iv. Anxiety v. Loss and Grief vi. Building Resilience b. Each individual module should include coping strategies to manage situation discussed in each topic. Therefore, each individual module should be designed to be delivered as a stand-alone module. c. After the appointment of the consultant, The SCU will provide guidance, review, and feedback for each topic. d. The consultant is expected to provide the first complete draft of training module within five weeks of appointment. The consultant should be ready to roll out first batch of pilot/test TOT in Mogadishu on the sixth week of the appointment. The timeframe for the pilot training is 8 days. a. Travel to Mogadishu and preparation meeting with the SCU and IMTC. b. Conduct the five days TOT knowledge and skills building (3 days of topics delivery and 2 days of trainees practice sessions). c. Review meeting with the SCU and IMTC and travel back. Following the pilot/test training, consultant will review the TOT module content/activities, process and incorporate feedback and finalize the TOT module within 2 weeks timeframe.

Duties and Responsibilities This Consultancy will comprise of preparing the content and training materials as well as administering and facilitating a programme of Training-of-Trainers (TOT) for UNSOS/AMISOM Trainers during the period of May/June 2022;

The Consultant is expected to ensure the training proposal has clear and agreed upon practical outlines which should be submitted along with the narrative of a proposal as part of the application for this consultancy.

The Consultant will prepare a facilitators training manual, presentation materials for each subject and a participant workbook. The Consultant will carry out the evaluation of the training at the end of the TOT and incorporate the input for finalization of the Training Manuals.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Advanced University Degree or higher in counselling/clinical psychology with training in adult Training/coaching and clinical supervision. Knowledge in Psychological trauma and current treatment modalities will be an added advantage. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university

Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in conflict and/or post-conflict contexts in the field of mental health, of which a minimum of 3 years’ experience in training with emphasise in training/coaching adults on mental health issues especially psychological Trauma. Preparation of training manuals and design of training material, practical delivery of formal training sessions, monitoring and evaluation. Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office is required. Experience working in a multi-cultural or international work environment, field mission or post-conflict environment outside home country is desirable.

Language: English and French are the two working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this consultancy fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.

Additional Information The consultant will research on and develop content, modules, and syllabus for a Training of Trainer (TOT) programme on psychosocial support and resilience building. The Consultant will also deliver a pilot of the programme for peer review and validation. Approach and delivery will be discussed and agreed with the consultant based on the following key steps:

  • Engagement with UNSOS Staff Counsellors and Training Unit to establish baseline concepts, and relevant academic and practical substance based on need of target audience.
  • Suggest a draft programme of TOT based on a fusion of academic knowledge, practical and relevant experience, and a variety of tested perspectives.
  • Peer review of draft programme, content, and syllabus.
  • Delivery of test pilot of draft programme, in a face-to-face setting.
  • Collecting, processing and incorporating feedback from pilot programme; and presenting final report including a) Training programme with details instructions on approach and methodology; b) Tools and resources for TOT delivery, evaluation and certification; and c) Any other inputs and related deliverables as determined by UNSOS Staff Counselling and Training Units.
