Implementation of Project Activities

  • On a regular basis, lead recreational and PSS activities in the CFS
  • Come to the CFS/PSS centres every day prepared to engage in a positive way with children.
  • Take children’s attendance for each session.
  • Prepare an activity plan on a weekly basis.
  • Observe children with special needs and ensure they are well integrated into the activities; if needed, refer them to relevant services.
  • Answer questions from community members and parents about what activities are taking place in the CFS/PSS centres.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct every day—in CFS/PSS centres and in the community.
  • Attend special information sessions planned for community members and parents.
  • Develop schedules for daily/weekly activities for children or youth
  • Ensure the safety of all children and youth.
  • Report supply or material needs to the child protection officer. .
  • Establish a good working relationship with community shuras and key actors in the project areas to ensure access and regular contact with children and families.
  • facilitate safe and confidential referrals to other service providers.
  • Support information dissemination on protection, safeguarding, service access, and psychosocial support messages through home visits or at different service points.
  • Collaborate and communicate closely with other staff and project teams, ensuring smooth coordination, information sharing, and referrals.
  • Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and ensure safeguarding concerns are reported and followed up.

Reporting and Administration

  • On time appraisal of staff performance in accordance to WV HR policy (Community Mobilizers)
  • Ensure daily supervision of CSs
  • Prepare weekly and monthly report to the management

Networking & Coordination

  • Maintain good working relationships with the partner agencies and service providers that enhance case referral and transfer.
  • Work with the protection/project teams to ensure close links between case management, other sectoral activities and the work with community-based child protection mechanism.
  • Participate in internal meetings and coordinate with other programme/sector teams.

Other

  • Adhere to WV Child and Adult Safeguarding policy and standards.
  • Adhere to WV accountability standards.
  • To be aware and prepared to implement WV Afghanistan Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs plan under the context of fragile interventions.
  • Required Professional Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience implementing protection or child protection programmes in humanitarian settings
  • Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
  • 12th Grade or Diploma in community development, psychology, social work, sociology, and other social sciences relevant.
  • Certification or other recognized courses on Protection, Child Protection, Gender-based Violence, International Humanitarian Law or other relevant subject, PSS and education
  • Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Prior experience in working with INGO is preferred
  • Male and female couples are preferred in this position
  • Prior experience in fragile contexts and humanitarian response.
  • Experience in community mobilisation and conducting outreach activities
  • Experience in implementing programme with case management and psychosocial support components is desirable
  • Worked in a team setting and able to collaborate effectively with other stakeholders
  • Commitment to and understanding of WV’s aims, values and principles
  • Basic knowledge of child protection principles and programming approaches
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ethical sensitivity and ability to effectively communicate with children and their caregivers
  • Knowledge and awareness of inter-agency Child Protection in Humanitarian Action tools, guidelines and other resources is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills – self-motivated individuals, able to take initiative and propose solutions, resilient, positive, and able to work independently
  • Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

    Herat with travel to project locations

    Physical Requirements Language Requirements

    Knowledge of the local language (Dari). English skill is desirable.
