Overview

Develop a questionnaire and review public information for UNFPA PSEA coordination.

You have:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Working knowledge of Arabic and/or French would be considered an asset.
  • Advanced university degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, or related fields.
  • At least five years’ experience in humanitarian or development programmes for the UN and/or international organizations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge on mainstreaming protection, gender and human rights in projects and programmes.
  • Knowledge and experience related to inter-agency coordination and UN operations is preferred.
  • Evidence of having carried similar assignments supporting the evaluation and development of PSEA strategies is required.

Consultancy Description

The Position:

The International Consultant would be responsible to develop a questionnaire for the mapping, review information available publicly and engage with UNFPA COs (primarily through PSEA Focal Points), ASRO colleagues and other important key informants (PSEA Coordinators, AAP Working Group members, other agency PSEA focal points) in order to document coordination structures and UNFPA engagement across the Arab States Region.

The Consultant will work under direct supervision of the UNFPA ASRO PSEA Focal Points.

You would be responsible for:

The International Consultant would be responsible to develop a questionnaire for the mapping, review information available publicly and engage with UNFPA COs (primarily through PSEA Focal Points), ASRO colleagues and other important key informants (PSEA Coordinators, AAP Working Group members, other agency PSEA focal points) in order to document coordination structures and UNFPA engagement across the Arab States Region.

The expected deliverables include:

  • Inception report laying out a work plan for the duration of the consultancy
  • Questionnaire/mapping tool to systematically gather data from COs and other key informants
  • Draft regional analysis/mapping report

Final report that includes case studies and tip sheets with Power Point to guide Webinar for ASRO and CO staff in the region.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

Advanced university degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Public Administration, Economics, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Law.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • At least five years’ experience in the field of humanitarian, development programmes for the UN and / or international organizations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge on mainstreaming protection, gender and human rights in projects and programmes with professional experience in the area of Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and accountability to affected populations.
  • Knowledge of gender-based violence prevention and response is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience related to inter-agency coordination and UN operations is preferred.
  • Evidence of having carried similar assignments supporting the evaluation and development of strategies on PSEA programmes and strategies.
  • Familiarity with AAP programme and strategies an asset
  • Excellent command of English is required and Arabic and/or French language skills would be an advantage.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required; Working knowledge of another official UN language predominantly spoken in the region ( Arabic) would be considered an asset.
