Drawing on the diversity of UNDP’s client needs and partnerships, the Office of Human Resources (OHR) is the hub for the global HR function for UNDP, providing strategy, policy setting, guidance and oversight. In addition, OHR provides a broad range of HR advisory and talent management services enabling UNDP to deliver fully integrated development solutions at corporate level. In this context, OHR is focused on the implementation of an ambitious and forward-looking three-year strategy, People for 2030, which will progressively transform UNDP’s culture and enable its workforce capacity to deliver more and better results.

UNDP, IOM, UNOPS, UNFPA, UN Women and WFP are jointly designing an inter-active online training course on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) for their agency specific PSEA focal points. The objective of the online training is to:

  • Provide PSEA focal points with guidance in their role;
  • Share tools and resources enabling them to fulfil their responsibilities;
  • Share lessons learnt and best practices to inform our future approach;
  • Strengthen collaboration and further the implementation of PSEA activities and initiatives.

In this context, the PSEA team at BMS/OHR is seeking an intern to support the online training roll-out and effective operationalization.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Intern will provide support to the PSEA specialist by coordinating online training logistics, providing technical assistance to course participants for learning technologies and building interactive online webinars. The person in this role will be expected to:

1. In close collaboration with the PSEA specialist, support the design of interactive online webinars, including designing interactive elements (such as group discussions, polling, annotating etc).

2. Draft concept notes, invitations and technical guides to inform participants about the webinars, how to join, interact etc

3. Track registrations and participation across the agencies.

4. Scheduling webinars and acting as host to control webinar functions managing general features in the online webinar interface.

5. Provide technical assistance to participating UN agencies and training course participants via email, phone and web.

6. Co-create/edit PowerPoint presentations and other learning materials as needed.

7. Undertake tasks related to the coordination and execution of the online training program and other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Applicants to UNDP internships must at the time of application meet one of the following academic requirements:

  • (a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • (b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  • (c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Experience:

  • Interested persons should be detail-oriented and able to work independently and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience in supporting project coordination and developing/designing online training materials.
  • Must be able to engage collaboratively in a team environment to support projects and programs.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint and prior experience with learning management systems and videoconferencing software.
  • Prefer prior experience working with Zoom systems/software as well as familiarity with Microsoft Teams. Prefer prior experience in supporting the design and roll out of online learning programs.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Other languages would be an asset.

General Internships Terms & Conditions

  • UNDP Internship programme is governed by the UNDP Internship Policy Framework & Rules.
  • Under the new revised UNDP Internship Policy, UNDP will provide a modest monthly internship stipend to its interns, in accordance with the provisions of the UNDP Internship policy. All expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern or her/his sponsoring entity/institution. Stipends are available only for full-time/on-site internships at this time.
  • Selected Interns must be able to share proof of education enrolment and/ or graduation, medical/health and life/accident insurance, valid for the location in which the internship will be carried out and be able to provide insurance documentary proof at the time of their selection.
  • The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment with UNDP but to complement an Intern’s studies and learning growth. There is no expectation of employment at the end of these internships.
