Support implementation of TAP and SSTC for economic and social development

You have:

  • Master’s degree in relevant fields such as economic development and planning, sociology, women’s studies
  • At least 10 years of experience research in relevant fields
  • Expertise in the field of development studies, development economics, international relations, development planning or equivalent
  • Experience in designing and facilitating high-level policy dialogue workshops on topics including women’s livelihoods and economic empowerment, cash transfer, social protection, youth empowerment and engagement, local economic development, and resilience against natural disasters
  • Familiarity with UNDP and UNFPA projects and procedures
  • Knowledge and proficiency in internet research and finding quality data and information
  • Familiarity with national stakeholders in the field of women’s and the youth entrepreneurship
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools
  • Technical documentation translation skills in relevant fields
  • Good analytical skills in gathering and consolidating data and research for practical implementation
  • Ability to interact with high-level government officials
  • Responsive to feedback and differing points of view with a positive and constructive attitude
  • Ability to work in teams and individually in a timely manner
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Farsi

A UN multi-agency programme funded by the European Union (EU) has been recently launched to support Iran in achieving sustainable economic and social development by responding to current emerging needs and enhancing the resilience of the most vulnerable communities, in the face of economic and disaster-related shocks. Under this Joint Programme, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will aim at strengthening the resilience of women, youth and the most vulnerable through economic empowerment and disaster preparedness. UNDP will apply an integrated approach to achieve those objectives through a number of interrelated up-stream and down-stream components, promoting policy-dialogue on the one hand and interconnected programmatic pilot interventions on the other hand. Two specific components of the work package focus on policy-development and South-South cooperation. Under these components, the following activities will be carried out:

? Development of the Resilience workstream of the UN Technical Assistance Package (TAP) in cooperation with the Government of Iran

? Consultations for the implementation of TAP based on the South-South and Triangular Cooperation Framework

? South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) Framework

? Common Country Analysis (CCA) Process

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant is expected to achieve the following results and associated outputs:

• A clear way forward for the implementation of TAP and SSTC in 2021 and 2022 is defined and agreed upon.

• Priority Areas for resilience strengthening and South-South cooperation to support the implementation of TAP are identified and expanded upon.

• Priority areas for the next United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework are identified and expanded upon.

• A consolidated final report documenting achievements of the policy dialogue process, compiling best practices and outlining next recommended steps to support the resilience workstream of TAP and promote South-South and Triangular Cooperation is finalized.
