- At least 3 years' relevant experience working with a health, humanitarian or development organization, with excellent references.
- SGBV case management experience (at least 1 year).
- Demonstrated practical experience in GBV/SRH work including case management, prevention activities and community engagement.
- Previous experience in working with communities, running GBV prevention curricula, raising awareness and providing services in village settings.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advance English proficiency.
- Fluency in Russian or Ukraine is mandatory.

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world.
DRC Ukraine is looking for an experienced Protection Specialist-Gender Based Violence Specialist to support & develop its activities in Dnipro.
Overall purpose of the role:
The GBV specialist is working predominantly with DRC GBV team members, and sometimes with women and girls in camps, villages, urban centers and temporary displacement sites. The main responsibility of this position is to lead on the technical quality of prevention and response activities in the GBV team across east Ukraine including case management, psychosocial activities, and male engagement.
Geographic scope: Area
The Gender based violence (GBV) Specialist works as part of DRC’s team under the direct supervision of the GBV manager and guidance and support of the Protection Manager and Protection Technical Coordinator. The role is based in Dnipro and shall conduct regular field visits to areas of intervention in the east. The position holder will require working with women and girls that had been internally displaced or are from the host community.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
The GBV Specialist will be expected to perform the following duties:
Ensure DRC GBV programming is aligned with regional and internal strategies:
- Attend Protection Working Group, GBV Sub-Sector, 16 Days of Activism meetings, GBVIMS taskforce
- Develop strong relationships with GBV and related actors within eastern Ukraine including CSOs.
- Work with other sectors within DRC especially but not limited to Protection, MPCA, NFI, Shelter and Economic Recovery to identify and implement joint working opportunities
- Support the GBV Manager in the creation and delivery of GBV strategic work in the east.
- Work with PSS teams to develop and translation of Interagency and DRC’s existing PSS tools and materials
Provide direct technical supervision to GBV Team colleagues to ensure the quality of the programming:
- Support the Team Leaders to ensure all prevention programming (including recreational, life skills, awareness sessions and curricula) is underpinned by PSS principles and responsive to women and girls’ needs
- Provide one-on-one and group coaching sessions on key GBV topics and ensure that the enhanced knowledge of the team results in improved programming
- Design and deliver training sessions for core GBV development topics for the GBV team and internal and external audiences
- Support the team leaders to monitor the capacity of the incentive workers and design appropriate training materials
- Provide technical supervision and support to GBV team members awareness raising, focus group discussions (FGD) and other community engagement activities together with GBV Prevention Team Leaders.
- Help the GBV team in strategizing locations of the emergency response, and deciding topics on GBV prevention to be rolled out in each of the women and Girls centers
- Complete donor quarterly reports and draft sections of the GBV project proposals
- Support the GBV manager in identifying context based information to draft context specific activities, awareness sessions and curricula implemented in the Women and Girls Centers.
- Support the Team Leaders to monitor the capacity of the incentive workers and design appropriate training materials
Ensure that the GBV programme is evidence-based:
- Regularly review the MEAL data to gather evidence to inform current and future programming
- Identify evidence/knowledge gaps and work with MEAL to suggest options to rectify
- Regularly review and share emerging evidence from international standards and tools including GBV AoR Minimum Standards, IASC GBV Guidelines
Administration:
- Fill and submit Purchase Requisitions, Travel Authorizations and any other DRC administrative forms as needed
- Coordinate with other DRC departments to ensure the effective use of the logistical and financial resources
Experience and technical competencies:

- Experience working in challenging environments with good personal resilience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Fluency in Russian or Ukraine is mandatory
