• 2-3 years of working experience with INGOs/NGOs, in protection & experience in PSS is strongly preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, proven self-initiative and problem-solving abilities.

• Having experience in digital data collection and understanding of Kobo toolbox.
• Having good communication skills, with regular reporting capacity both oral and written.
• Having the ability to work in a team and individually.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills understanding the current contextual challenges including beneficiaries’ selection, community assessments & local authorities’ interference.
• Working level spoke and written English.
• Ability to understand both Pashto and Dari.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Protection Officer (Psychosocial Support), under the direct supervision of the Protection Team Leader, with close consultation with the Protection Manager in Jalalabad, is primarily responsible for providing psychosocial counseling to the project beneficiaries and targeted communities, awareness raising, liaising with government and other key stakeholders, and conducting training.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Protection Officer-PSS include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct regular protection monitoring (focus group discussions, key informant Protection mainstreaming sessions) with targeted beneficiaries.
• Provide individual and group psychosocial counseling to the project beneficiaries in the target communities and/or at the community centers.
• Provide counseling and assistance to GBV survivors in addition to taking the lead in the facilitation of group therapy sessions for GBV survivors and women at risk.
• In collaboration with the Team Leader, Protection Specialist, and Protection Manager, the PO (PSS) will organize and facilitate the internal and interagency case conferences meetings.
• Provide capacity building to protection assistants, focal points, community leaders, and other partners on guiding principles to GBV, basic counseling, and standard case management practices.
• Ensure that all individual case files are opened and closed according to the standard operating procedure and that the storage of the survivors’ data is in line with the data protection protocol of the organization.
• Conduct interviews, surveys, psychosocial evaluations, home visits, and referrals reporting of incidents or violations.
• Works closely with the MEAL officers in carrying out the client satisfactory surveys to measure the impact of the response services provided in addition to identifying the underlying gaps in the provision of the response services.
• Organize and facilitate regular community-level discussions to strengthen community-based prevention and consoling.
• Actively engage in the provision of psychosocial support and skill-building activities at the Community Centers for the PSS services individually and in the group.
• Provide support in needs assessment surveys for future protection programming & establishing sectors integration.
• Submit weekly progress reports of the activities to the line manager.
• Perform other relevant duties, as requested.

• Contract length: till 31st of December 2023 with the possibility of extension.
