The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has opened the recruitment process for a National Post (with Local salary scale) of the Protection Officer within a project that DRC is implementing. Protection Officer will implement protection activities in given locations. The protection officer will plan, implement, monitor, and document all protection activities with the support of GBV specialist. The Protection Officer will be responsible for day to day protection implementation activities in the field including awareness raising, conducting training.

Position: Protection Officer (part time 90%)

Period of engagement: 9 May 2022– 08 June 2022 (1 month) with possibility of extension

Reference: The Protection Officer refers to the Country Director and works in close cooperation with the programme staff.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for direct implementation of protection activities including community training and monitoring of the activities implemented in the centers.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the GBV/CP support interventions in centers and ensure timely referral pathways.
  • Responsible for timely and effective provision of Community Based Protection services including protection monitoring in the centers, psychosocial support, awareness raising, community capacity building, identify community needs and their priorities.
  • Contribute to evidence-based programming through protection monitoring data.
  • Conducting culturally appropriate trainings on GBV prevention and response and Child Protection and ensuring direct protection messaging will be provided to PoCs through psychosocial support (PSS) activities and awareness raising sessions.
  • Other relevant duties as directed your direct supervisor.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Prepare weekly / monthly individual work plans, with the inputs of your supervisor that will serve as guideline for implementation.
  • Continuously monitor implementation of protection activities and report on progress, challenges and recommend solutions.
  • Participate in all relevant meetings, workshops, seminars and training as directed and provide feedback.

Qualifications & experience required

  • Bachelor degree in Social Sciences or other relevant field
  • Experience on refugee/migration related issues

Skills and Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in Protection, GBV, child protection with a demonstrated focus on protection program design and implementation.
  • Experience working with NGO’s, UN agencies
  • Strong listening and empathy skills, as well as commitment to supporting women and children survivors/ at risk;
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Proven record of providing trainings and workshops on protection needs and concerns.
  • Integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to consistently meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.

  • Fluency in spoken and written Serbian and English;
