Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Protection Officer – IPA&GBV

*​***About the Job**

The overall purpose of the role is to to provide leadership to and management of case-management teams and ensure high-quality case-management services are provided to displaced people in need.

Sector responsibilities: Advocacy for the rights of displaced people in their context of displacement, child protection initiatives, individual protection assistance based on vulnerability, legal aid, land & property rights, sexual and gender-based violence prevention, registration services for the internally displaced and refugees, monitoring of rights and rights awareness-raising, facilitation of return and repatriation processes.

Geographic scope: Hatay Field Office

This role has an area focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the area. The role contributes to the development of country strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks.

Main responsibilities

Programming & Operations

•Adhere to and promote strict protocols for safety, international and national standards and procedures, confidentiality and consent for case-management;

•Oversee GBV/case managers (including follow up on referrals and action plans) and provide technical support to case-management problem solving;

•Develop work-plans and ensure timely implementation of case-management assistance to clients

•Strengthen GBV and individual case-identification and referral pathways with external actors

•When needed directly manage individual protection cases and provide case-management services;

•Update case files on individual developments, following DRC Data management protocols and ensuring beneficiary data is protected;

•Assist Protection Team Leader to prepare monthly IPA, Protection & GBV CM report

•Support the protectıon team leader ın the updating procurement plans and financial tracking of individual cases is carried out

•Work closely with the legal officer to facilitate needed legal support of cases, and to document case-planning and update case-files;

•Work closely with the PSS officer to ensure provision of PSS support as needed;

Coordination and representation

•Collaborate with relevant internal and external technical experts on sector relevant issues

•Participate in the case-management task force as needed

•Represent DRC at meetings and other relevant technical coordination meetings if requested

•Develop and maintain good relations with the persons of concern, relevant stakeholders and other humanitarian actors, to support adequate implementation and coordination of DRC’s sector activities

About you

To be successful in this role, you must have relevant university degree (e.g. Psychology, counselling international development, humanitarian action, law public health) or equivalent professional qualification; Social Work degree preferred.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required experience and competencies

•Minimum 2 years of practical experience in sector area working for an INGO

•Field experience to implement GBV and/or Protection Case Management activities

•Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

•Advanced English proficiency

•Fluency in Turkish or Arabic.

•Experience working in the humanitarian field (preferably experience from southern Turkey)

•Experience in protection activities and/or social or health sector.

•An understanding of humanitarian/civil society issues in Turkey and the region

•Experience working with Syrian refugees

•Strong organizational and communication skills

•Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment

•Ability to multi-task and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines

•Flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn from others

Contract length: 4 Months (renewable dependent on both funding and performance)

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals.
