Result of Service

• Weekly Protection Cluster meetings are convened • Weekly narrative reports (up to one page) on operational developments, challenges and progress in implementation of protection responses • Protection Cluster activity dashboard is up to date with partner inputs. • A five-page report with analysis of initial protection monitoring data (qualitative) • One workshop held with protection responder teams

Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day coordination of the Protection response in Gaza and maintain effective coordination of sub-groups and Protection Cluster Areas of Responsibility. • Assist in conceptualizing and developing protection inputs to humanitarian programming in Gaza, including the Humanitarian Needs Overview and Response Plan - in consultation with partners, other clusters/ ICCG and the National Protection Coordinator. • Support the Gaza Protection Cluster Coordinator in inter-cluster engagements, focusing on the mainstreaming of protection in the work of other humanitarian clusters/sectors in the oPt. • Assist in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of training and other activities in relation to protection programming. • Contribute to the development of a protection monitoring system, and to its implementation in collaboration with Protection partners.

Qualifications/special skills

Advanced University degree preferably in law, political science, international relations or other disciplines. A combination of a Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian protection in Gaza Experience in management of protection programmes, and in the application of minimum standards for the implementation of specialized protection programming such as standards for case management, Child Protection, GBV minimum standards etc.

Languages

Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required. Working knowledge of Arabic is required.
