Overview

Assist with legal matters and human rights issues.

You have:

  • Advanced or recent graduate student in Law, International and/or European Law, International Relations and Conflict Studies; students from other fields with relevant experience can also apply.
  • Students or recent graduates (not more than two years graduated) with a legal background are preferred.
  • Ability to show initiative, work independently and be flexible.
  • Excellent command of the Dutch language as well as very good English speaking and writing skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of human rights, Dutch politics, United Nations, and UNHCR.
  • Preferably knowledge of (Dutch) immigration and administrative law.

Vergevorderde of (net) afgestudeerde student op het gebied van Rechten, internationaal- en/of Europees Recht, Internationale Betrekkingen en Conflictstudies (studenten met een andere studierichting maar met relevante ervaring/kennis kunnen ook solliciteren);

Studenten of (net) afgestudeerden (niet langer dan twee jaar afgestudeerd) met een juridische achtergrond zijn een pre;

In staat zijn om initiatief te tonen, zelfstandig te werk te gaan en flexibel te zijn;

Uitstekende beheersing van de Nederlandse taal alsmede zeer goede Engelse spreek- en schrijfvaardigheid;

Diepgaande kennis van mensenrechten, de Nederlandse politiek, Verenigde Naties en UNHCR;

Bij voorkeur kennis van het (Nederlandse) vreemdelingenrecht en bestuursrecht.

Onder verantwoordelijkheid van de Protection Officer in Den Haag houdt de stagiair(e) zich bezig met de volgende taken: · Het bijhouden van en onderzoek doen naar ontwikkelingen in wetgeving, beleid en jurisprudentie op het gebied van het asielrecht en de positie van vluchtelingen en asielzoekers in Nederland; · Het voorbereiden van antwoorden op informatieverzoeken over vluchtelingenproblematiek afkomstig van overheidsinstellingen, NGOs, particulieren en andere UNHCR-kantoren; · Het opstellen van brieven/interventies inzake individuele zaken waar de beslissing niet in lijn is met UNHCR-richtlijnen;

· Het assisteren met de dagelijkse taken en verantwoordelijkheden van de Protection afdeling van UNHCR Nederland.Standard Job Description
