- At least 1 to 3 years’ previous humanitarian experience with satisfactory performance in the same or similar functional area
- Fluency in local languages

- Proficient computer skills; especially being able to deal with and enter the data in excel

Job Overview:
The purpose of the Protection from Violence Assistant position is to implement NRC’s UDOC project, which is based on Site Management pillar and methodologies. The project aims to improve the protection and assistance response to displacement-affected communities by establishing mechanisms to enhance:
- Communication with Communities: Sharing information with and receiving feedback

Role and responsibilities:
- k from displaced and vulnerable host communities.
- Community Engagement: Participation of affected communities alongside local stakeholders in the humanitarian and development response.
- Support to Coordination: Efficient, effective, and inclusive coordination of services at local level, involving a range of stakeholders (authorities, civil society, NGOs, private sector, etc.).
There are three main pillars in the project for enhancing communication, community engagement, coordination, and Protection:
- Community Centers are established in areas hosting large numbers of displaced households.
- Community Committees working in neighbourhoods of high displacement.
- Outreach Teams who work in Community Centers and visit affected neighborhoods.
The Protection from Violence assistant is mainly responsible at the Community Centre to administer the front desk/help desk daily and to perform a variety clerical task to collect quality information of individual’s emergency needs to be responded either by NRC or other service providers.
The position has no line management responsibilities and will be reporting to the Protection from violence Team Leader (or Protection from violence Coordinator).
Generic responsibilities:
- Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Implement protection programs according to the agreed upon work plan and program scope
- Support in data gathering and consolidation for reports
- Ensure proper, confidential filing of documents according to protection information management policies
- Maintain the relevant databases for Protection programming and MoVs
- Promote and share ideas for improvement of the program
- Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities, community representatives and other key stakeholders
- Ensure timely collection and relevant, safe sharing of information
- Assist with administration and logistic arrangements required for implementation and monitoring of activities
- Development of holistic and needs based programmes, which includes close coordination with NRC’s other core competencies.
- Support PFV Officer to coordinate with community leaders as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations and UN agencies to establish and maintain networks for access, referrals, and problem solving.
Specific responsibilities:
- Working with community structures, NRC committees, other NGO committees, and existing community structures
- Support in community mobilization, and guide awareness raising.
- Coordinate with other Core Competencies within NRC, working towards an integrated approach.
- And perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Greetings, welcome, and guide beneficiaries and community members at the front desk.
- Enter individuals' data and requested services into the registration database.
- Maintain and update the registration database in a timely manner.
- Produce reports on the ratio of needs to requested services.
- Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls.
- Direct visitors to the appropriate person and office.
- Ensure the reception area is presentable and organized, with all necessary stationery and materials (papers, pens, forms, brochures, etc.).
- Provide crucial and accurate information in person, over the phone, and by email.
- Maintain office security through safety measures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor logbook, register forms, issue visitor badges, etc.).
- Update calendars and schedule meetings for planned activities.
- Perform other administrative receptionist duties such as filing and photocopying.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the supervisor.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

- Basic knowledge of English Language

- Ability to commence work immediately
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- At least 1 to 3 years’ previous humanitarian experience with satisfactory performance in the same or similar functional area. Specialties in protection, social cohesion, International Humanitarian Law, negotiations, conflict resolution, and/or mediation preferred.
- At least 1 to 3 years’ experience in civil society organizations with satisfactory performance in the same or similar functional areas. Specialties in peacebuilding, dialogue, social cohesion, and human rights preferred.
- At least 1 to 3 years’ experience in social work or psychology work experience with a satisfactory performance in the same or similar functional area.
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad audience;
- Working knowledge of the Humanitarian Principles and Protection Principles;
- Proficient computer skills; especially being able to deal with and enter the data in excel;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Able to show empathy towards the beneficiaries and having great listening skills.
- And ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
