DRC has been responding to various humanitarian crises in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian, Iraqi and Syrian refugees. DRC received registration from the Ministry of Interior in 2011, and since then has focused primarily on responding to the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and the resulting impact on Lebanese host community. DRC Lebanon’s focus is to ensure that we are able to respond to critical emerging humanitarian needs whilst improve the living conditions of displacement-affected populations and contribute to the achievement of durable solutions. With an annual portfolio of $12million, and with approximately 200+ staff, DRC is focusing its response in protection and economic recovery (Ec-Rec) sector in Bekka, North Lebanon and Beirut. DRC is also contributing to the evidence base and coordination structures in country through our Evidence Generation and referral information management (RIMs) teams.

About the job

The Protection Coordinator (GBV) will lead the provision of GBV technical support coordination and quality assurance to DRC’s stand-alone and integrated GBV programmes across Lebanon. S/he will ensure the programme is delivered to a high quality in line with DRC’s, donors and international standards.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Provide technical support and guidance to the protection teams at field level on GBV stand-alone and integrated programming (including development of technical tools and guidance, tailored capacity building plans, trainings and on-the-job coaching, and supervision);
• Provide technical support and guidance on protection and gender mainstreaming to other programme sectors;
• Support design and start-up of new GBV programmes, including integrated programming;
• Support capacity assessments and technical capacity building of protection staff from partners;
• Work closely with MEAL teams to develop and implement ethical and safe monitoring and evaluation tools and mechanisms, including qualitative data collection and analysis.
• Feed into the analysis of the protection environment through regular analysis of program data and analysis of trends and gaps related to GBV;
• Provide technical inputs into proposals, ensuring emergency protection needs are clearly represented, and lead on proposal development if requested;
• Provide technical inputs and quality assurance of interim and final project reports in coordination with Grants team.
• Support identification and development of strategic partnerships on protection, in collaboration with the Partnership Specialist, including the development of technical capacity-building plans;
• Support in the establishment of partnerships and strengthening of collaboration with Protection and GBV (I)NGOs and other actors;

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 3 years of experience in the protection sector (particularly in GBV). Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

• Thorough understanding of best practices and minimum standards in GBV prevention and response programming (case management, cash assistance, psychosocial support, management of emergency safe shelters for GBV survivors etc.).
• Strong experience in capacity building of staff and local partners and providing direct technical support to local organizations advantageous.
• Thorough understanding of GBVIMS and child protection information management systems and protection information management in general;
• Strong experience in project development and proposal writing.
• Experience in working in integrated GBV programs advantageous.
• Willingness to travel regularly as needed.
• A strong passion for protection, and ability to advocate for protection needs internally and externally.

Desirable

• Tertiary qualifications in law, human rights, social work, psychology or related discipline. Advanced degree such as Masters or a combination of disciplines, is advantageous.
• Full proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic
