This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

MDF's aim and objective is to promote sustainable community development initiatives and at the same time to help promote the UN SDG which is to improve the living of rural poor communities. One of the MDF projects is to provide the local communities with power using renewable solar energy. This project has become MDF's focus due to many isolated rural communities that do not have access to power sources and MDF is currently looking to electrify selected rural PNG communities that do not have access to hydropower grids by using power from renewable solar energy. MDF intends to seek donor support for this project which involves the installments of 10 street lights and 4 indoor lights for a rural community in Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea.

To that end, MDF is seeking the support of Online Volunteers in proposal writing. The Online Volunteers' support is vital whereby their in-depth knowledge and expertise in proposal drafting and their knowledge of solar power can be utilized. The volunteers will be assisted by the project lead for the Foundation to develop and refine the proposal.

The selected Online Volunteer will support us in creating a project proposal for establishing a solar energy grid for rural communities in Papua New Guinea.

The selected volunteers will be assigned with one of the following tasks:

Online Volunteer 1: Background research on the rural community needs for writing and editing the proposal

Online Volunteer 2: Researching and providing technical advice on solar power, adding the findings to the proposal

Online Volunteer 3: Reviewing the proposal created, giving advice and help to online volunteers 1 and 2

The candidate should have professional training in electrical systems with experience in building and maintaining solar lighting and grid facilities, preferably in rural areas. They should have previous work involving creating proposals for various electrical projects and doing simple cost analyses. Writing skills will be an asset.
