How can you make a difference?

Embedded in the Partnerships and Communications Team, the consultants will help OOI to develop clear and engaging partnership proposals that cut across a range of thematic focus areas and innovations that OOI is working on.

Main responsibilities will be: UNICEF is seeking to hire a consultant to assist in the development and copy editing of several innovative programmatic proposals for the Office of Innovation. The consultants will be responsible for:

Development of Clear and Engaging Partnership Proposals

• Based on inputs from technical colleagues and against specific guidelines develop a proposal drafts and provide feedback to the responsible team members for revision. Working closely with the Partnerships and Communications team lead or manager throughout the process.

• Finalize content of each proposal, including final editing and proofreading, for final review by Partnerships and Communications team lead or manager.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or other relevant fields. *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven professional in writing, copy editing and content development for international organizations or media.
  • A strong track record of delivering quality written content for external engagement and visibility.
  • Knowledge of UNICEF’s and UNICEF’s Office of Innovation’s key messaging and focus areas (including data science, connectivity, open-source technology, working with start- ups and a range of other partners, etc.) would be an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Duty Station : Stockholm, Sweden / Remote with travel.

Duration: 5 months (Part Time 2.5 days a week)

Travel:

• The consultants are expected to travel once during the assignment to Stockholm for 10 days. • The consultants are responsible to arrange his/her own travel, including visa and travel insurance

Insurance:

UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the consultant’s service. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrollment in a health/accident plan prior to starting his/her work.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
