Org. Setting and Reporting This position is in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Torit. The Property Disposal Assistant will report to the Chief Property Disposal Unit or his/her designated official.

Responsibilities Within the delegated authority of the Chief Property Disposal Unit, the Property Disposal Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

- Assist with planning the property management operations, monitors progress through statistical analysis of database records and monthly progress reports for the Unit: - Monitor ongoing operations of the Unit, the regular site visits of different offices and physical inspections and verification of UN property. - Assist the supervisor in coordinating with SAUs in preparation of equipment write-offs and processing of write-off cases through relevant property survey boards. - Assist with the execution of the proper disposal of hazardous waste, of written-off property and of’ some commodities representing a risk to the environment, to avoid any pollution or contamination. - Ensure the maintenance of accurate and auditable records, in both hard and electronic format, for accountability of UN Property and the mission in conformance with Administrative Instructions, Logistics Support Division/Director Field Supports LSD/DFS guidelines and mission Property Management standard operating procedures. - Ensure proper utilization and enhancement, as required, of the established business intelligence and management tools to monitor and evaluate the overall procedures of the Mission’s property’ management activities: - Monitor the UMOJA database, ensuring that anomalies are identified in Discrepancy Reports and addressed immediately. - Assist with the preparation of periodic performance reports in line with the LSD quarterly reporting regime, review and ensure accuracy of data. - Prepare accurate and auditable statistical reports for management in missions and LSD/DFS and draft correspondence, as required. - Refer any irregularities to the supervisor. - Perform Property Disposal Unit housekeeping on a continuous basis. - Perform and keep database on tracking of containers. - Operate MHE (i.e. forklift) to move pallets and containers. - Support implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and environmental policies in Property Disposal Unit. - Identify issues and implement solutions to problematic areas related to Property Disposal Unit. - Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor..

Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of inventory control, property disposal, property management, logistics, procurement or other related fields is required.

Proven computer skills and training in software applications such as Word and Excel is desirable.

Knowledge of Umoja/SAP database is desirable.

Languages English is the working language of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised fluency in oral and written English is required.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
