UN-Habitat has developed a Gender Policy and Plan. The Gender Policy and Plan (GPP) 2020-2023 is UN-Habitat’s roadmap for promoting gender equality throughout its work. It is aligned with the organizational Strategic Plan (2020-2023) and in support of its contributions to the implementation of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The GPP elaborates the gender dimensions of the programmatic results and the relevant indicators for measuring success, as well as steps to strengthen gender equality across UN-Habitat systems and processes.

This UN-Habitat Gender Policy and Plan (GPP) reinforces UN-Habitat’s commitments to achieve defined standards in its work for gender equality, in alignment with the Beijing Platform for Action (1995) and its several quinquennial reviews.

The volunteer would be editing the Draft GPP which builds on the evaluation results, lessons learned and recommendations from the independent external evaluation of UN-Habitat’s Policy and Plan for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women in Urban Development and Human Settlements, 2014-2019 that was conducted in 2020.

The online volunteer will also ensure: -The report is proofread and reads smoothly with the same written -Check and ensure no grammatical and spelling mistakes are found, must be consistent and ensure sentences are not superfluous or lack substance.

The online volunteer is urgently needed for this assignment. UN-Habitat will provide the draft GPP document, images and any other additional information to be used. The Online Volunteer will be accorded due credit for their collaboration

  1. English language (Oxford English)
  2. Volunteers familiar with the terminology used in gender mainstreaming, urban planning, and legislation would be preferred. If interested, submit your CV clearly highlighting previous experience on a similar assignment/s as this.
