UNDP is looking for nine online volunteers to conduct promotion and outreach for the Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) on Gender and Mining Governance in English, Spanish, and/or French. The course is scheduled to start on 13 September 2021. The online volunteers will work in teams of three (three team members per language) to spread the word about and increase enrollment in the course. Online Volunteers will be asked to create engaging social media campaigns (with a recommended 35 posts or emails in total for each volunteer) targeting relevant audiences, with a specific focus on organizations related to women in mining, gender equality, and sustainable mining. The online volunteers will be introduced to the work of the Learning for Nature team at UNDP and will learn about empowering women in the extractives industry.

    Learning for Nature is the premier e-learning platform by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It offers an extensive portfolio of e-learning offerings to promote best practices in conservation and sustainable development and ​​develop the capacity of biodiversity policymakers, practitioners, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities. The “Gender and Mining Governance'' MOOC is offered by the United Nations Development Programme, Environmental Governance Programme, and Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development. This four-week course compiles research from leading institutions in the industry to build awareness and skills in regards to gender governance in the mining industry. This course is aimed at representatives of governments, mining companies and civil society working on the promotion of gender equality in the mining industry, but is open to everyone.

  • Volunteers: 9 needed

  • 1-5 hours per week / 5 weeks

    Application is open for all nationalities with a preference for candidates with experience in online advocacy campaigns and proficiency in social media tools. Advanced or native-level knowledge in either English, Spanish, or French is a strong asset. Previous familiarity with local or international organizations related to women in mining, gender equality, or sustainable mining is considered an advantage.
