This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Due to the worsening state of the environment and increasing pressure on natural resources, there is a need in Pakistan to introduce projects designed specifically to combat these issues. Keeping this in view, UNDP has implemented a project titled ‘Climate Promise’ and initiated climate resilience, which aims to improve the cooperation and resilience of local and regional stakeholders and provide technical assistance to government counterparts for effective implementation of Climate Change policies, Nationally Determined Contributions, and compliance to international conventions. This UNV assignment is a part of this initiative which focuses on SDG 13 related to Climate Action. Under this project, UNDP not only works with the government institutions of Pakistan, but also involves national and international public sector bodies. This project includes coordination with Ministry of Climate Change and provincial government institutions like Environmental Protection Agency, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. National Public bodies like Global Change Impact Studies Centre and National Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority and international organizations like Stockholm Environment Institute, and C40 are also in close collaboration with UNDP for this project.

Under the overall supervision of the project manager, the UNV will be responsible for the following tasks: • Follow-up with consultants on-boarded for this project on each of their progress • The UNV is expected to support the team in administration, resource mobilization and internal coordination in UNDP • Facilitate in drafting of quarterly and annual progress reports (QPRs/APRs) and internal reports whilst ensuring coordination between different units at UNDP. • Facilitate the project team in smooth coordination among UN agencies, Governmental organizations, and UN partners. • Provide technical assistance in implementing the project work plan activities. • Support the project team in organizing and coordinating for meetings with other teams and external bodies (UN Agencies, Government, Civil Society, etc.) • Liaising and communicating with stakeholders as required to support the operation of an effective and efficient organization of workshops/events/conferences/series of meetings and training. • Coordinate logistics for program events, workshops, and meetings, including venue booking, and travel arrangement services. • Monitor project activities, expenditures, and resource utilization against planned targets and budgets. • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal team and stakeholders. • Monitor program activities against established indicators and targets to assess progress and performance. • Assist in the drafting of progress reports to be submitted to donors. • Assist in drafting the ToRs (Terms of References), internal reports, and other documents as needed. • Assist in reviewing concept notes and proposal writing.

As this is a national UNV assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. UNV Field Unit will help you open a Pak rupee bank account with Standard Chartered Bank or any other local bank at your duty station.
