You have:
- BA / BSC Degree in Agriculture, Economics Business Administration, Development studies/planning, Social Science disciplines, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of directly relevant professional experience in the area of local economic development/livelihood development, private sector engagement.
- Experience working with private and public donors including foundations and corporates.
- Working experience with Institutions involved in sustainable development/community empowerment/natural resource management.
- Previous experience as a Project Officer with strong expertise in Livelihood interventions.
- Fluent in the English language.
- Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders including community-based organizations, local NGOs, local government and officials, donors, and colleagues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, proven networking, team-building, organizational, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
Purpose of the position:
The role supports the relevant processes to ensure that Water for Life Project is delivered on time and produce the desired results. The project officer will work with the project manager to revise the scope, schedule, or budget to ensure that project requirements are met. In addition, this individual will help establish and maintain relationships with project beneficiaries at the communities, District Assemblies and MoFA providing day-to-day contact on project status.
Major Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Implementation
Work closely with key project manager and partners to complete 35 activities in 27 communities which includes:
15 FMNR/Agroforestry interventions
- 7 Community fire management interventions
- Conduct 2 Climate smart agriculture trainings
- Conduct 2 Composting trainings and establish composting pits
- Organise 2 Integrated Pest Management trainings
- Food Security, environmental risks, biodiversity, climate change etc.
Ensure implementation of Audit and Risk Assessment recommendations in Food Security and Economic Development projects and their impact areas within the project locations.
Review and regularly monitor project budgets in line with project plans as required by GIZ.
- Ensure the timely preparation and submission of procurement documents, financial reports and disbursement request
Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting, Learning and Knowledge Management
- Conduct monitoring visits to project activities to assess progress against targets and to provide coaching and direction to activities in areas where improvements are needed.
- Document case studies in programming that clearly demonstrate both social transformation and sustainable development outcomes of the interventions.
- Ensure the documentation of lessons learned, best practices success stories and project impacts for sharing at internal and external knowledge sharing forums
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports that meet donor requirements to project manager.
- Identify emerging project risks and respond to the risk appropriately
Partnering, Networking, External Engagements and Communication
- Build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners and other stakeholders in planning and implementation.
- Build and maintain cordial relationships with the Communities, District Assemblies, decentralised agencies of governments, GIZ, private sector and other relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of the Water for Life project.
- Increase the visibility of the project through engagement with relevant stakeholders
- Conduct frequent monitoring to generate information on project implementation.
Grant Resource Acquisition Management
- Deliver quality programming to ensure strong technical branding/niche created from Water for Life project interventions
Essential Qualifications: Education/knowledge/technical skills and experience
1.BA /BSC Degree in Agriculture, Economics Business Administration, Development studies /planning, Social Science disciplines, or related field. Master’s Degree will be an advantage.
2. Minimum 3 years of directly relevant professional experience in the area of local economic development /livelihood development, private sector engagement.
3. Experience working with private and public donors including foundations and corporates .
4. Working experience with Institutions involved in sustainable development/ community empowerment/ natural resource management .
5. Previous experience as a Project Officer with strong expertise in Livelihood interventions.
6. Ability to transfer knowledge and skills formally and informally to diverse audiences; desire and ability to mentor staff Proficient in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, etc

Working environment / conditions:
Domestic Travel: minimum 70% regular local travel
On call: 10% In emergency and disaster situations, the position will be required to be on call.
There is an expectation that there will be occasional out of hours travel and external/internal event
