**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Education Sector (ED) Duty Station: Hanoi Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract (possible extension subject to availability of funds): From 7 to 11 months Recruitment open to : Internal and external candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Hanoi Time) : 28-May-2023 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Level of this position: UNESCO Ha Noi SC8 The Incumbent will contribute mainly to planning, implementing, coordinating and monitoring the following projects of UNESCO (i) the We are ABLE project on Promoting Gender Equality and Girls Education in the Ethnic Minorities Areas of Viet Nam (Second phase) and (ii) activities related to Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and other gender and inclusion related activities of the Office. Long Description ---------------- The incumbent will undertake the following assignments: - Contribute to the implementation of the projects towards the achievement of the project objectives, and ensure production of the outputs/deliverables per the approved project documents and work plans; - Organize individual activities, mobilize experts, both from the UNESCO and outside national and international consultants; manage the day-to-day implementation of the activities under the projects; - Assist in managing the financial and administrative aspects of the projects and prepare and/or make revisions of the work plans and budget in the course of implementation; draft TOR of contracts/agreements for partners and consultants, monitor the progress and coordinate preparation of supporting documents; - Coordinate logistical arrangements related to the project implementation in close consultation with the government counterparts and partners, such as organization of field missions and project-related events at both central and provincial levels; Long Description ---------------- - Contribute to boosting the visibility of the projects; work closely with the communication officer and relevant partners to ensure good media coverage about the project activities, produce communication materials and coordinate advocacy campaigns; - Maintain close communication with relevant departments in the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), the Youth Union, other government agencies and partners, including regarding matters related to contracts and partnership agreements, as well as the donor (CJ Group) and UNESCO Headquarters and Regional Bureau for Education (UNESCO Bangkok); help organize and participate in meetings with them and prepare summary points of the discussions - Undertake any other specific technical tasks and provide technical inputs in order to achieve the project objectives linked to the implementation of the work plans under the projects and to assist the Programme Specialist in particular in areas related to gender and inclusion in education - Contribute to brainstorming sessions within the office and consultation meetings with partners, and the preparation of a concept note and a project proposal; - Report on the progress of activities/expenditures on a regular basis to the Education Programme Specialist; contribute to preparation of the progress reports - Perform any other tasks as deemed appropriate by the Head of Office and/or the Education Programme Specialist Long Description ---------------- **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Communication (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Accountability (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- - At least BA in education, economics, social sciences, developmental studies, or other relevant areas. - At least 4 to 6 years of a proven record of professional experiences in related fields (e.g. education – specific experiences related to inclusive education and/or health and sexuality education would be an asset -; youth development); experiences in an international organization is a strong asset - Fluent in Vietnamese **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- - Master of Art is an asset; - Project management skills; - Analytical skills, ability to collect, synthesize and analyze information; - Understanding and knowledge of gender and inclusion in education, comprehensive sexuality education and Sustainable Development Agenda, in particular SDG4 on Education; - Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English; - Knowledge and practical experiences of communication activities is an asset. **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
