Project Officer -Food security and livelihood

The Role Summary:

The Project Officer - Food Security and Livelihood will oversee the planning and implementation of project activities in alignment with climate resilience initiatives along transhumance corridors. This position will ensure effective beneficiary targeting through community engagement, selection, registration, verification, and delivery of essential resources. The officer will coordinate with various stakeholders, including the Anticipatory Action & Climate Resilience project and field teams, to guarantee that all activities adhere to agreed schedules and standard operating procedures

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordination

  • Liaise with district teams (Partners) where early warning committee capacity building is being implemented to ensure smooth flow of activities.

  • Train IDPs on food production and smart farming.
  • Work closely with local partner and government such as ministry of livestock forest and range.
  • Foster relations with other World Vision Programs in the district so as promote collaboration and sharing of resources.
  • Work with community animal health workers.
  • Participate all project assessment and learning
  • Review partner files and process their payments.

  • Capacity building for community structures and Partner staff:

  • Facilitate the identification and implementing of appropriate training needs for communities and Partner staff.

  • Supervise, facilitate, appraise and identify staff and partners’ training needs.
  • Induct partner project staff about the project(s) being implemented and WV policies.
  • Capacity building to community for implementing all resilience project activities.
  • Conduct and/or facilitate trainings to Community Implementation Committees, local community members among others about project objectives, sustainability methods etc.

  • Monitoring and reporting

  • Assist Project Manager and district teams to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate approved activities, including cash for work activities.

  • Collect and submit project implementation progress photos
  • Compile and submit/share monitoring progress reports; including site progress reports, and other statistical/technical reports.
  • Participate in donor missions and visits by staff from the national office, third partners and donors.
  • Participate in periodic project reviews and reflection.
  • Initiate and /or participate in stakeholder networks and Government review meetings.

  • Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly progress reports to support project manager reports; including the consolidated CP reports, consolidated training plans, the monthly narrative report and the Sit Rep to be shared with the Food Assistance Coordinator for review on the scheduled dates.

  • Collection of human impact stories throughout the project implementation cycle
  • Process beneficiary payments.

Working Environment

  • Office-based in Baidoa, South West State with domestic travel required from time to time.
