This project aspires to contribute to the achievement of three targets set out in the UNESCO Operational Strategy for Priority Africa (2022-2029) regarding World Heritage; through improving the representativity of Africa on the World Heritage List, strengthening the capacities of African experts, including by empowering them to harness innovative technology, and finally harnessing good conservation practices for socio-economic development. The incumbent will further work, in collaboration with the Coordinator of the Programme on Culture and Digital Technologies implemented within the Framework of the Funds-in-Trust agreement between the Ministry of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UNESCO. In particular, s/he will be responsible for: Long Description ---------------- - Reviewing the project “Creating a Sustainable Heritage Ecosystem for Socio-economic Development in Africa”, according to the outcomes of the inception phase workshops, assessment and finalize related workplans accordingly. - Managing the overall project implementation including its different technical, administrative, and financial components (development of yearly workplans and their implementation, supervision of contractual arrangements, monitoring, reporting and budgeting) . - Coordinating and planning project’s activities in collaboration with UNESCO Field Offices in Africa, UNESCO Category 2 Centres, Advisory Bodies, specialized institutions such as École du Patrimoine Africain (EPA), Centre for Heritage Development in Africa (CHDA) and other regional partners. - Providing technical support through capacity building within the framework of the project for at least six countries for the revision of their Tentative List and three countries for the development of new nomination proposals in Africa. - Working with regional and local partners to support heritage and culture-related entrepreneurship initiatives in the African continent involving women and youth through strengthening their capacities and guidance. - Coordinating capacity-building programmes towards developing digital technologies projects in African countries for cultural and natural heritage safeguarding, and promotion. - Supporting two rehabilitation projects in Africa that will be identified during the project inception phase according to needs, priorities and available resources. - Monitoring and evaluation of the Project implementation, including the organization of follow-up meetings with the project's teams. - Coordinate the communication plan for the project as well as organise promotional activities such as side events, contests, and webinars.
